You Love This.

Hello and good morning...

Happy Tuesday and the last day of March!!! Crazy, it seems like this year is completely just flying by.
Today I am sharing a layout with you that I created with the Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane collection. It's actually a fall collection, but I pulled most of the non-fall-ish pieces and created a sports layout with it.  I used a busier paper for most of my background, the Traditions paper for a pop of color on the page.

I mixed and matched several Thickers packs for my title work, but used all of the basic colors that I had used throughout the page, except for the pop of black as a focal point:

I also used several of the word strips, the Good Times fussy cut image from the Memories paper and added them throughout the layout:

So there is a sports page using a fall collection. In case you didn't know, tomorrow starts the Sketch-A-thon in the forums, a full month of sketches everyday to work with!!! I'm super excited for that!! Make sure to come on over and check it out.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a GREAT day!!!

********************* Product Inspiration *******************

Whenever we get new products in the store, I feel like I have to create something with them right away!!  So I am sharing a page with the new Bella Blvd Color Chaos collection.  This was for the gold, green, and lucky Tuesday trigger this past week and the challenge was to use a photo with green, green paper, and an embellishment that is green.

On this page I used one of the "invisibles" (the black stripe) and I cut some holes out of it with my exacto knife.  I layered it over a 4x6 card cut out from paper, and some other strips of green paper.

On the background, I experimented a bit with a dry brush and some black paint, and I love how it turned out!

****************** Store News**************

FINALLY some new Crate Paper and other American Crafts goodies have arrived in the store!!

****please note that I have only received the embellishments and specialty papers from this collection.  The papers are still on their way and should be here by next week. All specialty gold foil papers and burlap sheets are in stock, however.*****

Lucky me with Simple Stories

I was able to join along with this weeks sketch over on the sketch blog this past week. I loved all the floating circles in the fun design. Being the week of St. Patty's Day, I wanted on focus on greens and gold tones.
I wanted to use the muted base of the I AM thankful paper as my base to allow the green from the I AM brave paper to really pop! The greens of this paper are stunning! I started my title by cutting out a large letter "L" from my cameo as my title, hoping to create a great visual aspect.
I used one of the I AM chipboard frames for my photo, adding a wood veneer heart over my frame, making the colors work better for my page than what was on the frame.
I cut a clover from my cameo, adding it, along with gold thread, behind my photo. I love how versatile this line can look, making softer girly layouts with flowers and pinks, of more muted, neutral layouts such as this one. I am still working through this collection and have soo much more to keep playing with!
I hope yall have a lovely and relaxing day!

Teamwork

It's officially the weekend!  Jennifer here on the blog today to share a layout I created using our awesome guest designer's sketch!  Ashley Horton did a fabulous job giving inspiration to the team!  I

For my layout, I used Basic Grey's new Adrift collection from the My Scraps and More shop!  I love the primary colors of this line; perfect for many themes!

I used some old Amy Tangerine American Craft Thickers from my stash!  I added a cute arrow die cut from the Die Cuts and Transparencies pack!

Using a cut file (#41035)
from my Silhouette, I created different sized pie charts with the patterned paper.
I then stitched through with my sewing machine.

Also included in the collection are the fun Title Stickers. I used one of the circles in the middle of this pie chart.

Thanks for stopping by! You can add your own layout under our forum challenges!  Also, check out the shop for this collection plus many more!
Have a great day!

Show Me How Big Your Brave Is...

Hey, friends!  Missy here.  Today I'm sharing a layout I created based on the newest sketch over on the sketch blog.  Ashley Horton is the featured sketch designer this month, and I was very inspired to create my own background and "patterned paper" for this.

First of all, my photo is what I call a "hard to scrap" picture.  Lots of colors and a busy design.  I didn't have any patterned papers that jumped out at me to use for this, and I honestly didn't want to spend hours going through every single piece of paper I own....haha.  So I decided to work with white cardstock and inks, paints and gelatos.  I covered some cardstock in gesso and then made a big mess of blue, pink and purple.  I used gelatos, some watercolor, some stencils and some spray inks.  Once it dried, I used a few different sized circle punches and made my circles.  I followed the sketch and placed them down and then stitched through them with silver thread.

I wanted something to back my photo with that wouldn't take away from it or add to the busy factor, so I used a piece of white tissue paper and a small bit of patterned paper from Echo Park Capture Life.  It's black and white striped and it subtle.  I added some touches of pink washi tape and lots of tangled thread.

Those wood hearts have foil on them....super fun and easy to do.  Michaels carries this on the aisle with all the inks and stencils....and it's actually on clearance.  You just coat the paper or whatever in the foil glue, wait for it to dry and then stick it the foil sheet.  When you peel it off, it's covered in foil!  Super cool and shiny!

Here's a close up of the mixed media work...very abstract and messy.  I tried to match the colors in the photo, and I love the silver touches.

Here you can see the thin tissue paper layers.  I also added some vellum circles and some flair buttons.

I used some Heidi Swapp chipboard alphas combined with some alpha stamps and a Cameo cut.  The title is a lyric from one of Sara Bareilles' songs :)

I hope this gives you some ideas on what you can do when you have a hard to scrap photo...try and create something that makes the photo stand out.  Sometimes patterned papers can drown a photo out, so this is a great way to make it shine!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Missy :)

Magic.

Hello and good morning...

Happy Tuesday!!!!
I'm sharing with you another layout that I made using the Simple Stories Say Cheese II collection. In case I didn't mention it before, but I have a TON of Disney photos, I don't think I'll ever have a shortage to scrap and it's been almost 3 years since the last time we went.

This photo was taken all the way back in 2010 of my older kiddos when we went to Disneyland on a rainy day.

I added lots of random stitching through out the various sized circles on the layout:

I added a blue piece of paper under the "Magic" diecut tag, to make the wording stand out a bit more, along with some white mist splats on the black background:

And a bit more stitching:

So if you have got PILES of Disney photos, this line is perfect!!!! There are soo many embellishments in this collection, you can pick from several different packs and they are really full of great pieces...

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a magical day....

Good Stuff!!!

Hello and Happy Monday!!!

Today I'm sharing a fun page with you that is a little bit more simple in design for me, but sometimes simple is just perfect!  I love documenting our ordinary, everyday triumphs, like when my little guy and I successfully found all the letters to his name in his ABC Spaghettio's!  :)

I used the Simple Stories Life Documented collection, and  piece of paper from Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane.  I was inspired by the ABC cut file I found in the Silhouette store, and thought the bright stripes behind it helped make the letters stand out more.

I simply added a card cut from paper, some wood veneer stars, and a few other accents here and there, and then just a tiny bit of navy stitching. I really LOVE this collection to tell our everyday stories!
