A Tasty Summer Treat in our Giveaway Monday 9.30.13

Happy Monday! I have gotten a early jump start on my Christmas gifts this year! I have three cousins that are extra special to me and have really been a great source of support to me in the last couple of years. I want to do something special for them so I've decided to make them each a scrapbook calendar as a surprise Christmas gift. All three of them are Grandma's so I have been filling their pages of pictures of their little cuties! It's been kind of fun scrapping someone else's kids for a change! haha!! Here is a summer layout that I made using the Carta Bella Cool Summer collection. It was just perfect for the photo of these little girls enjoying an ice cream cone!!

I am sad that Summer is officially over for this year but we can always remember it though our pages until it rolls around again!! For your chance to win some of these fun papers from the Cool Summer collection, leave me a comment on this post ( and daily on the other design team members posts for extra draws) telling me what your favorite season is and why. I will announce the lucky winner next week! And speaking of being lucky...look who won last week's giveaway...

Hello Azaleas

Hey there, friends!  Missy here with you today.  I hope you're having a wonderful weekend so far.  Today, I'm sharing a page that I created for today's Saturday Steal Challenge over on our boards.  I chose a layout from a member and lifted it.  This is based on a layout by Brenda.

I put my Cameo to work cutting out the multi-circle piece in white cardstock.  I used Gelatos to color it pink and yellow.  My background is just a plain piece of blue cardstock, which I doctored up using modeling paste & a stencil, Gelatos, watercolor pencils and mists.  I also added a little bit of stamping in there.

My embellishments are from American Crafts, and I also threw in some various washi tapes.  There are lots of new American Crafts products in there store HERE!

I love creating lots of layers.  The more, the better :)

I chose embellishments that coordinated with my pink, yellow and blue color scheme.

I traced over my title with a pen after touching it up with some Gelatos.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful weekend!

Turning 2!

My little guy's birthday was way back in July and I was saving this Crate Paper "Party Day" collection just for this very event!!  I used last week's sketch that I created from the sketch blog.

I wanted to layer lots of different products here, so there is paper, stitching, vellum, chipboard, and more stitching!  I love the depth it gives!

This collection has the perfect accents for birthday pages!  This tag had one candle on it, but I added another chipboard one to make 2!  I made those little sky blue enamel dots myself!  :)

And some stickers for journaling tucked under my photos...

Thanks for stopping by today!!!  Check out the store for Crate Paper's NEWEST releases!

Go Bold

I love bold colors.  If you really want to make them pop, put those bold colors on a black background.  The colors will really stand out then.  I created this page of my kids with one of their cousins using Bella Blvd Daily Chevies.  My kids always tend to be bright in their attire.  Especially my middle son who is all about fashion, yep that is him in the green shirt.  The bold colors of this collection work great with their choice of clothing.

Oh Happy Day!

Hello and happy Wednesday!
Lisa here with you today to share a fun technique and a layout I made using the Fancy Pants What A Wonderful Day Collection.

I took a Kreaxions punch and punched into cardstock and used that as a mask to add modeling paste to six random spots on my layout. Once dried, I used Glimmer Mist and painted them:

Isn't that collection just the cutest? I love it!

Enjoy your day!

I Can Swim

Hello and good morning...

If I haven't already mentioned my love of the Bella Blvd Snapshot collection, then let me reassure you again, of how much I just ADORE this line... the collection really works for any occasion. So this summer I took quite a few photos of the kids swimming, since that's what we seemed to do alot of. It was fun watching my lil one really enjoy it also.

I added some misting, stitching, and distressing:
I'm a total sucker for the cameras on the paper, and added a wood one too:
I also took the leftover part of the chevron strip I used at the bottom of the page and added it to the top and popped it out from behind the photo:

I used the My Scraps & More sketch #47 on the My Scraps & More sketch blog.. Make sure to head over and play along. Tammi is giving you a chance to win the September prize of papers from Fancy Pants Designs Happy-Go-Lucky collection, complete at least one layout from sketches #45, 46, 47 or 48. The deadline to complete and link up your page for this sketch is October 3rd.

Have a great day

She's a Natural

Happy Saturday, My Scraps fans!  Missy here with you today that I designed for last week's Word Up Wednesday challenge over on our message boards.  The word was ADVENTURE.  I was so excited to use the new Wild & Free collection from Glitz!  It's available in the store right HERE

One of the patterned papers has a multi-colored watercolor look to it.  It inspired me to try and create my own background similar to it.  So I pulled out my paints and got creative.  I tried something new this time...I got out a piece of plastic kitchen wrap (like Saran wrap) and spread it out.  I squirted a few dabs of paint in random places.  Then, I sprayed water over them and mixed them around with a brush.  Then I took my white cardstock and laid on top of the plastic wrap and pressed my hand all over it.  When I removed the paper, this is what was there!  I dried each color with my heat tool before doing the next color.  The more colors I used, the more I could see what area of my paper needed color where, so I eventually would just stick the corner of the paper to the plastic wrap just to get a specific color in a specific spot.  VERY easy technique, and as you can see, it makes for a GREAT and colorful background!

And I think the key to keeping your paper from warping is to hold it in your hand while you heat dry it.  I was constantly holding it from different angles as I was drying it, and it never really warped or folded.

This photo is of my sweet little Paige a few years ago, riding horses at school.  She loved it then, and she still does :)  I love this striped die-cut horse in the collection...perfect for this page!

There are a lot of alpha stickers in this collection...they're a perfect match!

The arrows are so fun...I had to restrain myself from using all of them on this one page!

I just love this watercolor look...the colors turned out so pretty, I think.

I'm really loving outlining things on my pages lately.

That's it for today!  I hope you come and join us on our boards...lots of fun going on!  Thanks so much for visiting us today...and have a wonderful weekend!

Missy :)

Is it Christmas yet?

Did I scare you?  Don't worry you still have several months to get that shopping done.  I was in the mood to scrap this photo of Jacob and our elf visitor from last year and I didn't really feel Christmas papers would work that well.  I pulled out these Jillibean soup Irish Farm House Soup papers and the touches of red were just right without being overwhelming on the Christmas colors.

3 Lil Cuties

Hello and good morning..

I was actually kinda excited when I saw that Tammi had some new Christmas lines in the store from the CHA releases. This gives me the perfect excuse to dive into my last years stash of Christmas photos and get some of those scrapped.I used Bella Blvd's Christmas Coutdown line for a photo of my kids in their new Christmas pjs, a Christmas Eve tradition at our house, its the one gift they can open on Christmas Eve.

I love the 3x4 cards from the Daily Details, are perfect for adding some pop on the page:
I used a tag and added some twine and some TABS stickers, and just a hint of misting in the background:
I also used a few of the border strips which were fun to add to the top and bottom of the page:

So if you have a ton of Christmas photos that need to be scrapped, this line is perfect!!! or you can even premake some pages and then slap on the photos once they are printed... check out the line in the My Scraps store HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day

A Grungy Rainbow layout :)

Hey there, My Scraps fans!  Missy here today.  Have you ever created a page that you just loved?  Well, that is the case for me with this layout.  I wasn't too sure about it at first, but it actually turned out exactly like I had planned in my head!  That almost never happens.  I love to surf different blogs, and I found a sketch on the ScrapFriends site.  It jumped out at me, so I decided to give it a go...I really loved the chevron arrows.

I created this for this week's Throwback Thursday challenge, which is where you use products that are least one year old.  I also challenged members to use at least three different manufacturers / collections.  I grabbed a bag off my shelf and challenged myself to use whatever was inside.  It contained some Hip Hip Hurray from Pebbles, Emma's Shoppe from Crate Paper and For the Record & This and That from Echo Park.

My background is Echo Park.  I remember when I first got this collection, I was scared to use that bordered background.  Well, now I just grabbed it immediately and started grunging it up.  I used a fine lined mask and modeling paste and criss-crossed the lines.  Then I used an arrow/chevron mask and added more paste.  Then I went for the inks and just started spraying and splattering.  I added random stamping everywhere and some washi tapes.

You can see the effects of the paste here.  I also distressed my chevrons that I cut from various patterned papers.  I wanted a rainbow effect, and all those colors were in my "random" stuff bag!

Emma's Shoppe chipboard shapes matched up perfectly!  You can also see where I stamped with some reddish-colored ink.

I had this die-cut butterfly from another project.  I inked and stamped on him and then added a pot dot to make him stand out.  I just love how my pasted lines and arrows turned out...LOVE the texture!!

More chipboard and stickers!

I highly challenge you to pull some old stuff off your shelves and make something with it!  I have a bad habit of leaving collections in the bags they come in...and then months later, I find it and wonder what's in there....haha.  And it's fun to combine collections!  That's what makes it a true "challenge."

So come join us on our boards...there's a challenge like this every Thursday!

Have a GREAT day!

Missy :)
