Today I wanted to share a cute layout I created for the Pinspirational Crop earlier this month.  I hosted three challenges, and this layout is the one I created for the Children's Toys Challenge.  I chose a pin of a Rubik's Cube...remember those things?  I could never get it straight once I turned it all different directions.  I took my inspiration from the grid of squares on the cube.

I pulled out the beautiful Shimelle line and punched a lot of little squares from various patterned papers.  I took my background paper and added gesso on it. I used my Ingvlid Bolme chalk inks to create my watercolor effect here.  I just dabbed the chalk ink onto a piece of plastic packaging and then spritzed a bit of water on it.  Then I smudged the plastic onto the paper.  It creates such a gorgeous watercolor look!  Plus it's fun because you never know what design you're going to get :)

I stitched my squares down and added a few embellishments.  I didn't want to add to much since the squares really stood out.

Here's a closer lok at the watercolor and the stitching.  Oh how I love my sewing machine!  I still wish I would have bitten the bullet and gotten one years ago...

I love the messy look of the gesso and ink here.

I really love how the red and orange blended together here.  And the black Thicker really pops!

I highly recommend checking out Pinterest...there are SO many ideas there!  I hope this has inspired you in some way...and I hope you get in some scrappy time this weekend!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

There are so many things that I'm thankful for in my life. Today is a very special day and I'm especially thankful that 10 years ago today a special little man entered my life. It is my middle sons 10th birthday today (and he hates turkey:) )

I created this page with the fabulous Fancy Pants True Friend collection. This collection combines a bit of fall colors with a bold feel.

I layered the papers along with one of the Jillibean Soup Placemats. I was trying to keep it simple to highlight the photo of Austin standing on the side of a cliff overlooking the smoky mountains.

A Few Tags

Hey there!
Lisa here today to share a few tags I created using the Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas Embellishment Kit. This kit is full of wonderful Fancy Pants Christmas embellies! Love it!

For my first tag, I started out by adding brown and red ink to my embossing folder, added the tag and then ran it through my Cuttlebug. This was my result:

Then I just layered embellies from the kit onto it.

I added some Stickles to the embossed snowflakes and some of the embellies to give some shimmer and depth:

My second tag is oh so simple but cute. I used the premade tag and distressed and inked the edges before adhering with pop dots. So EASY!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your day with us!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Dance.

Hello and good morning...

One thing that I always love is bright, fun, happy colors. When I saw the Grossamer Blue On My Desk line, I instantly snatched it up. Then I printed some photos of my lil one at her dance class, and they were a perfect match to work with together.

I added quite a bit of layering on the page, and used the Jillibean Soup staples kraft tags down the side of the page, and accented them with a bit of doodling.

I added in several Crate embellies, just to add some layers through the page.

And then used a border punch and added some doodles for that, so the black popped throughout the page:

I actually got all the Grossamer Blue lines and have really loved working with ALL of them!! so make sure to check them out in the store.

thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!!

Thanksgiving FUN!

I am using up some stash of one of my favorite fall lines from last year....Basic Grey Persimmon!  I had a fun little story to share about what my kids said they were "thankful" for on Thanksgiving, and these photos were right after I had video taped them being silly saying they were thankful for their big bellies and noses....not the sentimental gratitude I was hoping for, but a fun moment to remember nonetheless!

I went with black and white photos so that I could use the busy prints and the bold colors of the papers without interference from colors in the photos.  I simply layered some papers behind each photo and then tucked a few elements in with them like gold leaves and transparencies.

Then I added a few chipboard pieces on top and some ink splatters and stitching.  And I also decided to do my journaling in white pen since i wanted the focus to be on the photos and embellies.

Together Always

Hey there, friends :)  Missy here. I hope you've had a great week!  I'm so glad it's Friday!

Today I'm sharing a layout I created for last week's Pinspirational Crop.  I hosted an inspirational quote challenge.  I found this on Pinterest and used it as inspiration.

I created this layout using the gorgeous Maggie Holmes Open Book by Crate Paper.  Although there is a TON of ephemera and die cuts in this collection, I went minimal here.  I backed a few die cut hearts (from The Cut Shoppe HERE).  I gessoed my background and then used distress inks & water and some plastic packaging to smudge it around.  I love the watercolor effect that creates.

I added in some of the vellum pieces and some thread here.  That LOVE transparency piece is from Heidi Swapp....and I actually found it on the floor next to my desk chair from one of my earlier projects.  It matched, so I made a place for it :)

I created a heart cluster at the top right using stickers, a fabric covered brad, some machine stitching and a few rub-ons.

This collection is full of these fun vellum pieces.  The hard part is choosing which ones to use...the choices are endless!  I love these rub-on hearts...probably one of my favorite parts of the collection, I think.

You can find this collection in the My Scraps Store!

Thanks for stopping by!

School Warming Present

When you move into a new house many times you receive housewarming presents.  Well this week the school I work out started moving into a new school.  The students will officially start December 1st.  I thought it would be appropriate to give my secret pal a school warming present.

I created this frame using the Fancy Pants True Friend collection.  My secret pal has 2 little boys and I thought the colors and little animals would be perfect for  showing off her precious boys.

Christmas Fancy Pants Mini Album.

Hello and good morning...

Today I am sharing with you a little Christmas mini album that I recently made. I realized I hadn't made a mini in such a looooong time, and I was way overdue. I LOVE how many photos you can scrap in a mini and always enjoy the end result. I used the Fancy Pants Be Different Mini Brag Book which was perfect to add a TON of photos and memorabilia in an album. It even came with pockets and some page protectors inside the album.

I choose to use the Fancy Pants Oh Deer collection for my mini. I like to stay with one collection when I'm working on a mini album so it stays consistent through the pages.

Here is what my album looks like:

I inked my edges with red ink, and then covered it with papers and used TONS of embellies from the Oh Deer Ephemera Pack. I pulled photos from our 2013 Christmas- and used photos from various Christmas activities.

We always take a family photo for our Christmas card, it's one of the few times a year we are all in one photo together.

I cut apart our photo Christmas card and added it to the mini:

It's always fun to see how much the kids change from year to year.

I also used some of the Oh Deer sequins through out the album for a pop of bling.

We always take lots of photos with the Christmas tree. These ones were all taken in our Christmas pjs.

We always love to make a trip to see the Christmas lights each season too.

Our lil one had a blast this past Christmas, really getting into opening presents, which is always fun to watch:

We have a family tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve and it's always new Christmas pjs. I try and get a photo of each person opening their new pjs.

I also just embellished and decorated a few of the pages here and there with fun goodies to mix it up a bit.

The kids also got to spend Christmas break with cousins, which always makes the holidays fun.

I usually probably not even HALF of the mini album, there are that many pages in it. But the great thing is, that I will just add photos from what we do for Christmas 2014 and continue the Christmas mini album.

There are a few other varieties of the Fancy Pants mini albums, just check them out in the My Scraps & More store HERE. It's a great easy project to really scrap a ton of photos at once...

Thanks soooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!!

"Falling"...and new items arriving this week!

Have you played along with any of our recent sketches on the My Scraps & More Sketch blog?  I created this page based on the latest sketch.

I decided to go with some non traditional fall colors by adding in the navy and the greyish blue  with bits of dark orange and mustard yellow.  Papers are from Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane and Heidi Swapp September Skies.

On my clusters, I added some clumps of twine behind them to add some texture. I also punched a few leaf shapes from patterned paper and added them, too.

Behind my photo, I used a piece of kraft cardstock and embossed it, then went over it with some straw colored distress ink.

The stickers came from this awesome sticker sheet by Bella Blvd which is available in the store:
