Love you, Sunshine!

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here.  Today I'm sharing my latest layout created for yesterday's Throwback Thursday challenge.  The challenge is to use papers and embellishments at least two years old and to use at least three pieces of wood veneer from your stash.  I have quite the collection of summer lines from Echo Park, and this layout incorporates at least three of them...one of them dates back to 2010!  You can still find some of Summer Bliss and parts of A Perfect Summer in the store.  They all work so nicely together, and I'm a sucker for really bright colors, so they were perfect for this fun pool picture of my little stinker :)

I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and Tim Holtz distress ink to create those circles on the background and then used some yellow acrylic paint for accents behind my photo cluster and on the right hand side strip.  The rest is paper layers, stickers, thread and washi tape.  I added the SHINE wood veneer after I used gelatos to color it.  I also used them to color the smaller wooden hearts.

I used pop dots under this...I love the dimension it gives!  I can't seem to complete a layout these days without adding tangled thread and machine stitching...it's so addictive :)

I love tearing my papers...I like that it gives an uneven and messy look yet still neat and organized.  Those cute loopy die cuts are from The Cut Shoppe.  I love the white on white look.

One last close up of the white space...this added touch of hearts and messy thread finished it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! We'd love to have you join us on our forums and in our challenges...lots of fun being had with some really awesome scrappers!

Have a great weekend!

A layout in my shopping cart

Hi there!  Lisa here today to share my thought process as I'm shopping in the My Scraps and More Store.  I almost always start with photos when I'm considering what to buy.  Sometimes a collection just speaks to me (you all have seen my obsession with Crate Paper Open Book) but usually, I have photos "in cue" just waiting to be scrapped.  My middle daughter, Jillian, and I visited some colleges earlier this month and it was super cold where we visited.  This brand new Simple Stories Snow Fun line will be perfect for documenting the college visit in Colorado.  I love that the collection kit comes with stickers and an alphabet, too.  So easy to make great layouts that way!

These new Word Strips, also from Simple Stories, will be perfect for adding little bits of journaling.

This Snowflake Paper will be perfect to coordinate with the collection....

These cute Thickers will make for a great title mixed with the alphabet stickers in the kit.

And because I love to add more pictures to my layouts, I'm snagging some of these great Photo Flips to my cart as well.  I can see myself using these a lot!!

So that's it for today, I hope you've enjoyed this look at my thought process when I'm shopping! Don't forget to add your coupon code for January, 20JAN15 for 20% off your full price items!!

Team Argentina.

Hello and good morning...

This season my older daughter had a really great group of girls on her soccer team. Six of the girls have played together for a few seasons, so it's been fun to watch them grow together as a team, and in skill. For this sports page, I wanted to mix it up and add a center focal point on the layout. I decided to work with layering large triangles down the center of the page. I used Amy Tangerine's Stitched collection, which worked well with the girl's team colors.

I outlined the triangles with some stitching and used the Amy Tangerine thickers, along with yellow and blue misting (team colors):

I actually only used a few embellies, some enamels of a few pieces from the ephemera pack:

And then decided to girlie it up a bit with some flower embellies:

If you haven't already checked out the collection, make sure to swing by the store and give it a look-sey.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Are you getting snow???

So sorry this post is getting up late today!  It's been one of THOSE Mondays...the kind where I forgot it was Monday!!

Believe it or not, it's been a relatively SLOW winter in terms of our snowfall here in central NY state.  We are well below average, but that may still be a lot for some of you (as I live in one of the snowiest cities in the US, according to the Weather Channel!)

Anyways, I love how the white snow in a photo just makes it so so bright, so I used some Gossamer Blue Get Happy with it's bright colors to go along with my photos!

The snowflake paper in the background was a bit busy, so I used a plain white cardstock behind my photos and just a few strips of paper.  The "sweater" looking paper is from the Fancy Pants Oh Deer collection!

I also used some other bits from my stash, including some old Crate Paper Bundled Up, and some clear snowflakes from Studio Calico.  I stitched two circles behind the photos to pickup on the "snowball" theme!

Tug of War: Tone on tone & Jillibean Soup

Good morning friends! I have been in love with the new trend of using "tone on tone" papers. The subtle look of detail is such a fun look to me. I created this layout for a challenge just for this purpose over at the forum this week.
I knew right away that I wanted to use this stunning paper from Jillibean soup. It is beautiful up close, as it shows a collection of silver glitter, which perfectly mimicked the falling snow in my photo. I added this fun embossed cardstock by Bazzil Basics, adding great dimension also mimicking a winter snow storm.

Since I knew my goal was a tone on tone title, I chose to add watercolor pencils to my cut snowflakes. These are a great tool if water color is a bit intimidating to you. I added some wood dots by My Mind's Eye to the centers of my snowflakes for just the right detail. These dots come in three natural tones, and are quickly taking over my "natural elements" loving heart.

I hope this layout encourages you to try a tone on tone look, and if you need a few more options for this look, don't forget the amazing sale going on in the shop right now.

I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing Sunday, and thank you for peeking in.

Pajama Day: October Afternoon's Saturday Mornings

Hello all! Happy Saturday! Jennifer here today to share a layout I created using the new
October Afternoon Saturday Mornings collection!  This line has a fun retro feel and is just in at the My Scraps and More Shop

The pack of Doo-Dads have cute little sentiments as well as tags. I used the "guest check" journaling tag and layered a few sentiments on top. I finished by using one of the cute Tin Pins

I used a few of my circle punches with some of the patterns to create a collage of circles. The B side of the Journal Cards are great for smaller prints!

Showing another of the Tin Pins with my journaling!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to check out the shop for this and more of the latest collections! Don't forget there is a huge sale going on to make way for all of the CHA goodies Audrey has coming!
Have a great day!

Stamping Technique

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here.  Sometimes I like to take a break from using actual collections and just feel like making a layout from scratch.  That's what I did for this page.  I created this for last week's Free For All Friday.  The challenge was to use several stamps to create some sort of collage.

I've had this set of arrow sentiment stamps just lying around for some time, so I decided to put them to use.  I first took white cardstock and traced around where I wanted my photo to go.  Then I took the stamps and stamped all around the square.  I overlapped them, creating a collage effect.  After that was done, I went over the paper with clear gesso.  This helps tremendously when you're going to use watercolors.  The gesso helps prime the paper so it doesn't seep into it and tear it.  I used watercolors, gelatos and Mister Huey's mist to create all that messy color.

Here you can see the stamps and background color up close.  Stamping is such a fun and easy way to create unique patterns and backgrounds.  Make sure you use a permanent ink, like StazOn or Archival to make sure it doesn't run when you add water.  I didn't even need to add any patterned paper to this layout...the stamps and paint did all that work for me!

I used a sunburst stencil to create the sun rays and then machine stitched over them.  I really love the pretty yellow up against the blues.

One last shot of the title.  I cut "Summer" on my cameo and then paired them with acetate alphas.  I always feel like I need to color or alter a plain white cardstock title, but I left it plain since the background was so colorful.

I hope this inspires you pull out your stamps and give them a try!  It's fun, easy and you really don't even need a lot of supplies to create this type of page.  No patterned paper needed!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!

Missy :)

Storyteller

If you have teenage girls like I do, you probably have storytellers.  I don't mean that they aren't truthful, lol, just that they are actively telling their stories...through instagram, Snapchat, selfies and photos.  I love to sneak the pictures off of their social media and get the stories told in the pages of our family albums.  The Crate Paper Open Book line is so perfect for these kinds of stories.  How cute is this portrait paper with the little eyeglasses? And these flowers I fussy cut from  the year book paper...so cute. And the icing on the cake...the Bookmark paper with the perfect title.

Sweetheart.

Hello and good morning...

Some times there are those moments when you look outside and see your little one doing something so dang cute, you drop everything and go take a picture.. This was one of those times. My daughter was playing baseball with her big older brother and she wanted to dress up in full gear just like he does when he plays. It was just too cute not to miss capturing.

I used Crate's Kiss Kiss collection for this page and loved all the fun emellies that came in the ephemera pack. Once I layed down all my papers, I decided to layer on the embellies.

I added some "strips" at the bottom of the page, some journaling, a quote and then just a fun envie embellie with enamels and more embellies:

I just used one of the precut diecuts for my title and then added some layered arrows to highlight it:

I added just a bit of stitching to highlight the smaller arrow on the side of the page:

So make sure to check out what's left of the Kiss Kiss line before it's gone.. it's not just for Valentines pages...

Thanks soo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Milestones.....

Its seems like with young kids, there are milestones happening all the time!  My daughter FINALLY lost her first tooth, that had been loose for weeks...I just wanted to reach in and pull it out, but she wouldn't let me!  lol....

I used some Amy Tan Stitched and a tiny bit of Crate Paper Kiss Kiss for this page and a few other bits from my stash.  The grey paper with the triangles reminded me of teeth, so that's why I used it!
