Fall in Georgia

Happy Saturday, friends!  Missy here with you today.  This page excites me...mainly because it's the type of photo I normally never get to scrap....Fall leaves!  Earlier this month, I was able to visit a friend in Georgia.  The leaves were GORGEOUS!  I live in central Florida, and we don't get this beautiful season change.  I was stoked to get to see it in person, and even though we missed the peak by about a week, I was still mesmerized by the bold leaf colors.

So this page was for today's Saturday Steal challenge, and I lifted a beautiful page by member Colette.  She used a panoramic photo, so I had to do the same.  I used a variety of brands here...some Acorn Avenue from Crate Paper (a line from last year), some My Mind's Eye (the wood grain) and some cardstock (which I painted).

I cut these leaves on my Cameo and then painted them to match.  Isn't that wood leaf adorable?  It's also from the Crate Paper line.  I knew I'd have a Fall photo at some point to scrap :)

I also cut these leaves and then painted them with acrylic paint.  I love how they turned out!  Paint can do wonders when you need to create a matching embellishment that you don't have in your collection or stash.

Stickers, wooden leaves and cord all add some cuteness to my bottom cluster here.

I like how this button and cord added a nice touch to the top part of my layout.

You should come check out our challenges over on the boards if you haven't yet!  Lots of fun going on over there.

To market to market...

I love to go to the farmer's market in the fall...the pumpkins, apples, squash, mums....and I love the fact that I am supporting local farms and people.  We had a fun time picking out pumpkins there and I thought that the colors in the Crate Paper "Close Knit" collection were perfect for the theme of my page.  I also used today's sketch from the Sketch Blog which you can see HERE.

I did lots of layering of some of the fun die cuts in the kit, plus I added some other wood bits from my stash.  You can also see a few splatters and some sequins, too!

I think jute twine is the perfect touch for a "natural" themed page.  And that Farmer's Market sticker is from an OLD Crate Paper collection called "Farmhouse" (maybe 2 years ago?).  But I remembered it and it was perfect for my page!

Hope you are enjoying your fall activities!  Now let's move on to the Holiday Season! We are starting it off with the 12 Days of Christmas on the message boards! 12 Days + 12 Challenges = 12 awesome giveaways! It all starts this Sunday  December 1st. Please join us on the forums and play along in all of the fun!!

Sketch Book Saved Me

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!  I hope you are enjoying time with your family and sitting back and taking it easy.  Or using this day off to get some scrappy time in :)

So how many of you are lost without inspiration to get a LO started.  Well if you can be that creative on your own you are better than I, LOL!  My computer sits on my scrappy desk and I'm always pulling up sketches or other LO's to kick off my pages.  Last week my computer started acting up, AHHH!  That is a nightmare for me.  Of course it happens when the mojo was flowing and I actually had time to scrap.  I grabbed out the My Scraps and More sketch book and used it for my inspiration.  Here is the page I created.

I used Chic Tags School House Collection for the page.

Thankful and Thanks

Hello and good morning...

Today I am sharing a layout with you using some of the new Chic Tags lines. I actually mixed the School House (school line) and the Good Tithings Collection (the Christmas line). Not a normal pairing of lines, but the colors and patterns actually mixed together really well.

I layers some pennants:

I also used several of the Chic Tag sticker embellies on my page:

I also used my scraps to create this Thank You card. With the Thanksgiving season on us, it's the perfect time to drop a thank you card in the mail to someone special who deserves to know your thinking of them

I added stitching on the banner and some MME enamel dots:

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Adding a little something...Giveaway Monday 11.25.13

Good Morning! I recently created a page for a Throwback Thursday challenge on our message boards. The whole concept of "Throwback Thursday" is to use some of your older stash on a layout. I was in the middle of a page for my cousins calendar, and really wanted it to work for the challenge, but the product I was using definitely did not qualify as "old" , since the paper was from a new Christmas line. After looking at it for a bit,  adding in a little bling, there was my Throwback page!

Our giveaway today is "some bling" to add that little something to your pages and the papers from Lily Bee Designs "Pinwheel" collection! For your chance at this prize, leave a comment on this post (and daily for those extra draws) by the end of the day December 1st, letting me know what little something you always add to your pages. I will announce the winner next week just like this lucky lady drawn from all of last week's comments...

LoriNovember 18, 2013 at 10:48 AMBeautiful layout! Fancy Pants is one of my favorite companies and I have really loved their collections for a while now.

The Pink Ladies

Happy Saturday, friends!  Missy here with you today.  I created this page for the Tuesday Trigger challenge over on our forum.  Our monthly theme is THANKFUL, so the challenge was to create a page about friends that you're thankful for.  These fun and special ladies are my gym friends...and we have such a great time together each week!  We actually DO work out hard...but on this day we all dressed alike without knowing it until we got to the gym!  We just had to photograph it :)

I used a lot of the older American Crafts Sketchbook collection on this, mostly because of the bright pinks.  I decided to throw in some blues and yellows, and then went for my stash of washi tapes, mists, stamps and rub-ons.  I also added some modeling paste to my background using an arrow template.  I even threw in some rick rack that I've had collecting dust in a drawer for forever!

I used a black pen to outline my arrows once they dried...I love the messy look it gives!  I also love that the mist ran right through it.

Mist, stamps, and buttons!  It's so much fun to get messy and experiment with different mediums.  The fun part is that it's not perfect, and you just may wind up with something cool you didn't even envision when you started.

I love tucking things behind papers.  This floss was perfect, and I love the way it peeks out behind this curled up yellow paper.

We'd love to have you join us on the boards!

Thanks so much for stopping by today...have a great weekend!

Happy Fall and Hello Autumn!

A few weeks ago for our "Pinspirational" crop, I shared this fall page using the Basic Grey Persimmon line.  If you haven't viewed this collection yet, you MUST!  It might be one of my favorite fall collections ever.  First off, it has navy instead of black, which is such a welcome change.  AND it has sentiments and icons for fall, Halloween, AND Thanksgiving all in one, so it covers the entire fall season!  PERFECT!

My challenge was to use 3 decorative edges on your page that were layered and also add some leaves.  I even broke out my decorative edged scissors for this one!  I machine stitched some circles to anchor the design and added some sequins and splatters for interest!

On my leaves that I hand cut, I added some machine stitching in orange for some texture.

I also had some other photos of my son playing in the leaves, so I decided to stick with the same collection and do a coordinating page (which makes it look like a double page spread in my album, even though I designed each page separately.

I added another stitched circle to bring the pages together and also some of the same leaves and of course the sequins and splatters.

I have already done a Halloween page AND a Thanksgiving one with this collection, too, which I will share soon!  Thanks and have a great weekend!

Giant Roller Doodle

I will start off my admitting I'm not really a tools person.  But when I do find something that looks easy and I like I will go for it. I ordered the Giant Roller Doodle in Chevrons and I really like the effect it gave.

I created this page of my son eating his worms and dirt :)

Of course before I tackled the LO I did some sample runs with the roller.  I tried ink and paint.  I liked the clean look I got the best using paint that had been smeared around a bit so it coated the roller evenly.  Then it was as easy as putting it on the paper and rolling.

Doctor Doctor

Hello and good morning...

Even though October and Halloween are over and come and gone, I'm still a complete sucker for scrapping Halloween... I have to say I think that Halloween collections are my FAVE and get used up the most. I really do enjoy scrapping Halloween, probably because the photos are always so fun and playful.

I completely became smitten with the Pebbles Thirty One collection when I saw it. The line has sooo many fun patterns mixed. I scrapped this page of my son and his cousin buddy as they both dressed up as doctors a couple of years back..

I loved the grid background and mixed a few of the papers and felt like I didn't need too many embellies once the papers were on the page:

I did sprinkle a few MME enamel dots and used a few of the Bella Blvd sticker embellies for the page:

The boy decided doctors wear glasses and took their 3D glasses from the movies and popped the lens out and wore them with their costumes.. LOL...

Make sure to pick up some of the Pebbles Thirty One collection to scrap those Halloween photos from this year...

Thanks for stopping by
