Playing with Glitz for Giveaway Monday 10/7/13

I added some washi tape and a little bling from my stash and loved the outcome! For your chance to win this fun collection simply leave a comment on this post by the end of the day on October 13th. Also...up you chances by returning to the My Scraps blog daily to see what the other design team members share and leave your love for them too!!

Life is Good + World Card Making Day!

Hey there, and Happy Saturday!  Missy here.  Did you know that today is World Card Making Day?  To celebrate, we're having a fun card-making event over on our message boards!  Each DT member has issued a fun challenge for you.  Head on over and check it out!  There is a big prize up for grabs!

Today, I'm sharing a page I created for Thursday's Throwback Challenge.  The challenge was to use papers from your stash that were at least TWO years old and use black & white photos.  I dug around a bit and found the Ad Lib line from Bo Bunny...I hadn't even used one piece of it yet!  How did that happen?  It's from 2011!  This line obviously isn't available anymore, but there is a lot of Bo Bunny in the store HERE.  I forgot how fun it is to work with big die cut pieces.  I really liked the colors and fun doodle-like patterns.

I used my Cameo to cut this title, and then I traced over it with a black pen.

I didn't have to do much to the background...it was already decorated for me!  I did cut some pieces from patterned paper to add here and there.

I love buttons!  They always add the perfect touch.

I hope this inspires you to dig into your existing stash and use it up!  Have a GREAT day, and we hope to see you join us for some CARD MAKING!

Thanks for stopping by!

Come Fly With Me!

Do you have one of those collections that no matter how many pages you create with it, you still seem to have a ton left over???  I feel like I have been working with this Dear Lizzy "Lucky Charm" collection for months (and I have), and I still have so much of it!  That's OK, though, cause I like it!  :)  I used today's sketch from the sketch blog for this page!

OK, so I have some embellies from a few other lines here:  The chipboard kite is from Crate Paper and the yellow doilies are from a piece of Fancy Pants papers.  The bow is from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes collection.  The colors on the kit weren't exactly the right shade for my page, so I cut out some papers that matched and popped them off the chipboard.

Layering some papers and stickers and die-cuts....also some fun swirly stitching in the background.

And my journaling pulls out from the side!

What collections are you trying to work through???

Don't forget....tomorrow is World Card Making Day and we are celebrating with a fun card crop on the message boards! Each design team member will issue a fun challenge to inspire you to make some beautiful cards. You are free to create as many cards as you would like for each challenge. Each card will give you one draw towards this grand prize of 4 unique 6x6 paper pads...

We hope that you will join in the fun!!

Simple Stories has done it again!

Simple Stories is a fairly new company but they came on strong and truly seem to be dominating.  Everything they create is just fabulous.  One of their newer lines is Say Cheese.  Now if you have Disney Photos this line is a must have.  I only wish I still had some to scrap or that I was going back soon, but alas that will not be happening.

Don't fret though, even if you don't have Disney photos this line is still a must have.  They knocked it out of the park in making this line work for so many different things.  Here is a page I created with my son and his 2nd great teacher on the last day of school.

And a close up of some of the elements.

I hope you will be joining us for our World Card Making Day Celebration this weekend!!!

October's Member of the Month

Hello and good morning...

I'd like to introduce you to our wonderful member of the month from our My Scraps & More forum....... She is BERTA!!!! She's been a very supportive member of the board who is had been playing along with the challenges regularly and such a delight on the forum, and a real sweetheart.

Hi!  My name is Berta Ramsey and I come from a small rural community in Northern California.  I am a mom to 5,  grandma to 8, and great-grandma to 1.  I've been married to my sweetheart for 46 years.  I'm a retired child care provider (35 years), a breast cancer survivor (8 years), and a chocoholic.  I love camping and exploring beaches and lighthouses.  My other hobbies include needlecrafts.

I started keeping scrapbooks when I was a teenager but I discovered 'acid free' products in the late 1990s.  That's when I started this kind of scrapping.  I was introduced to online scrapping when my daughter-in-law started a kit club of her own in 2004.

I'm not sure I really have a scrapbooking 'style'.  But I love to add ink, faux stitching, butterflies and flowers to most of my pages.  I'm also partial to soft colors.  My favorite technique is scraplifting.  My greatest inspiration for LOs is my family.  However, I love to scrap just about anything including pets and nature.

You can check out Berta's wonderful creations on her blog at: www.bertaramsey.blogspot.com

and here are some of her layouts to inspire you:

Thanks Berta soooo much for being a wonderful addition to the My Scraps & More forum family...
