Journey to Nevada

Happy Thursday!  Today I'm sharing a layout I created using the Studio Calico Thataway Collection and the  Crate Paper Journey Collection.  I know these are older lines but if you're anything like me, you bought it and hoarded it because you loved it so much!!  So here's some inspiration for using these products.  The papers are Studio Calico and all of the embellishments are from Crate Paper.

Journey to Reno

and a close up of the details, including where I fussy cut the states out of the Studio Calico paper and then added brads and twine to symbolize her journey from Southern California to Reno, Nevada.

Journey to Reno

Hope to see you sharing those lines you've been hoarding.

***************** Layout Share*****************

Speaking of clearing things out, how good does it feel to actually use up some STASH!  I LOVED this South of Market collection from Studio Calico and wanted to use some more of it up!  I'm getting down to the last little bits.

I have the strangest mind sometimes, when it comes to page designs. I was thinking about "goats" and then "mountain goats", and the thought of a mountain design came to mind.  It wasn't working vertically, so I had to rotate it horizontally!

You can still get some of the South of Market collection in the store!!!

This dates are ESTIMATES from the manufacturer, but I'll let you know that some of it has started shipping already!!!

Daddy's Girl

Hi there, Lisa here today to share a layout I created for our Tuesday Trigger Challenge in the forums.  The challenge for June is to use Dads, Yellow and/or Sunshine on your page.  I used a sunshiney collection, the Simple Stories Summer Vibes Collection to create a page about my youngest daughter and her daddy.  Yellow embellies just finished it off...

I just loved working with the Summer Vibes collection.  It's definitely versatile and doesn't need to be used JUST for summer photos.  The collection kit is an amazing value, too...Kit HERE.  It comes with one of each of the papers and stickers, including alphas and can be used for traditional or pocket scrapbook pages. And as an enabler alert, the Recollections flowers from Michaels are the perfect shade of mint and yellow for the collection.  :)  Hope to see you linking us up with this month's challenge.  We love to see your work!

Max

Hello friends! Jennifer here on the blog today to share a layout I created with the new
Studio Calico 7Paper Baxter collection.  The prints are so whimsical with bright colors!  I couldn't wait to scrap some photos of my pug, Max with this line!

I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe on top of this fun "dog" print!  The A side has drawings of dogs with coordinating colors (seen below).  I cut 3 inch squares of patterned papers and embellished!

I paired some of the stars from the Baxter Puffy Shapes with wooden veneer stars from my stash (also from Studio Calico!).

I used the Specialty Paper Rose Gold Triangle vellum over the grid print for one of my squares. I  added in a Vellum Heart from the collection, as well.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope this inspires you to create some pages all about your favorite pets!  Have a great weekend!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year everyone!!  It's Lisa Spiegel, here with my first post to the My Scraps and More blog!  I am so excited to be part of this team and to share my love of scrapping with you.  This is going to be a fabulous year for my family, with lots of wonderful milestones, and of course, it all begins with my girls.  So today I'm sharing a layout I created with my most recent favorite photo of my girls and my most recent favorite products. Crate Paper Open Book    I just love everything about this line.  There are so many beautiful elements in it and the colors are right up my alley with the touches of gold and turquoise.

Some close ups of the gold and turquoise. I added ink and sequins from my stash. I also used some Studio Calico wood veneer from the MSAM store.

A close up of the  American Crafts Photo Overlays.  The wood deer was from my stash.

Thank you so much for popping by today and I wish you a very, very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Summer pages..

Summer pages are some of my favorite ones to do!!  Maybe its because we are outside so much more and it seems like I have so many more photos because of all the activities we are doing!  Here is my latest favorite page.  I created this one with papers from Studio Calico South of Market, Crate Paper Open Road, and some Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine, all available in the store.

I began by cutting out triangles from the Crate Paper ""Big Sky" paper and layering them in a triangle shape.  On some of the triangles I used a star in a circle stamp with clear embossing, and I did my journaling on another.  I splattered some light blue watercolor paint, outlined my photos with a black pen to help them stand out more, and added a few embellies here and there.

I wanted to share one of my favorite layouts recently.  I created this page with Crate Paper Open Road and Studio Calico South of Market.  The design kind of came to me in my head and I went with it!  But my most favorite part about this page is the photo of my dad and daughter, and the story behind my daughter's "Favorite Friend"-her Boppy!  :)

LOTS going on!!!

Hello hello!!!

Sometimes there are some really BUSY patterned papers, and I get so intimidated by them that I only use a little bit of them here and there.  But I decided to try and get out of this rut by challenging myself to use a lot more of a busy print.

I used this bright colored, overlapping polka dots paper from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Day Dreamer line.  I cut the paper and an angle and used big chunks of them on the side and bottom.  I kept embellishments around my photos minimal, so as not to distract any more from the photos themselves.

Tubin'

No, not "TUB-in", "TOOB-in"!  I used today's sketch from the My Scraps & More Sketch blog for this page below.  I altered it a little by shrinking the size of the squares and arranging them off center.  I also used 4 photos instead of 2.

I have been trying to use up my summer stash, and this page has some papers from Studio Calico "Sundrifter" and "Atlantic" collections from the store.

I cut the chevrons from some of the patterned papers.  I love the ombre look!  Then I stitched down the center.

The blue background paper has some white waves on it and I wanted to accent them.  I was at first going to attempt to paint them, but then I had an epiphany and decided to break out my old old stash of puffy fabric paints!  It worked perfectly!

Have a great weekend!

Let's take a DIP!

The water in the lakes is still really chilly in Mid-June, yet that didn't stop my daughter from jumping on in!

I used the "Atlantic" collection from Studio Calico for this page.  You should really check it out in the My Scraps & More store!  It is a really great summer/nautical line!  I based this page off of today's sketch at the My Scraps & More sketch blog.

On my background, I wanted a bit more color, so I painted a large yellow circle with some watered down mist.  Then I splattered some Navy and aqua mists.

I had a third photo that just wasn't working in the design of the page (I always have a hard time mixing up portrait and landscape photos on a layout!), so I decided just to tuck it behind the larger photo with a little tab and clothespin to pull out!

I fussy cut out the anchor from patterned paper and added some flair.  I also used a vellum garland from my stash and cut apart the stitched circles and glued them around the page here and there.

Be sure to visit the sketch blog to see more awesome layouts with the sketch!

Time for Spring!

No, I didn't finish scrapping my winter photos yet.  But a whole bunch of new releases just came out, and I was itching to use them on some spring and summer photos!

I just love the colors of the new Studio Calico "Sundrifter" collection!!!  I can totally see myself using these papers for lots of spring and summer pages! I used some of the softer colors to create an Easter themed page:

The background paper is from an older Studio Calico line, and I gave it a white wash with Gesso.  I then used some modeling paste and a flower stencil to add some subtle textured flowers to the background.

Then is was just layering stickers, papers, and cut outs, and a few wood veneers here and there.

I used today's sketch from the My Scraps & More sketch blog as the basis for my design.

Are you getting Spring fever yet?  :)
