Summer Fun with Crate Paper

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here.  Today I'm sharing the last layout I created for our April Sketchathon.  I was sad to see it end...it went by so fast!  I can't believe it's already May...

This was based on a sketch I created, and the focus of it was a really large title.  I used the gorgeous new Poolside collection from Crate Paper for this, and I backed the big title with papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad.  I loved that the design of the cut file made the perfect little spot for my picture.  I added a few layers behind it and then added a chipboard frame on top of it.  My mixed media work was pretty minimal in this....for me, anyway.  I did a bit of watercolor work and then added a bit of light pink distress ink through a stencil.

Here you can see the paper strips behind the cut file...this was really easy to do.  I traced around the edges with a black pen to make it pop a bit more.

I decided to cover the "flip flops" part of this sticker with "pool" since that's what the picture is about. I really like how this cluster came together...I like the mix of the frame with the striped paper and the pops of pink.  Aren't the colors in this line just so pretty?

Here's a close-up look at the mixed media.  I really love how this looks...the randomness of the paint mixed with the chevron pattern.  The ink splatters really finish it off, I think.

The big acetate sheet in this collection is full of shiny gold...just gorgeous!  I cut this 2 out and stuck it to my frame.  I added in some rhinestones from my stash along with some teal thread.

Here's the video of how I put this together from start to finish if you'd like to see it.  I hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

Missy :)
