Spotlight on Pink Paislee!

We recently added two new Pink Paislee lines to the My Scraps store..."Vintage Vogue" and "Nantucket". Since going to the beach for our vacation this year, I could not wait to play with the "Nantucket" line. The colors of these papers are so soft...just right for this picture of me and the boys at the beach! I used the chipboard tiles from this line at the bottom of the photo and a couple of items (from which there are tons) from the embellishment pack. LOVE!!

I am Not liking Mother Nature!!

First an earthquake, which is unheard of in Virginia, then a horrible storm yesterday. It looks like a tornado went through our neighborhood!! Trees are down everywhere! We have two on our house and several across the driveway and road. Clean up will take days! We lost power for about 14 hours. So glad we have it back because now we have to look forward to Irene!! They say the hurricaine is going to affect us here and the news is telling us to prepare for no power for several days!!! So now you see why I am not liking Mother Nature too much right now!! Please stay safe to all of those that this storm is threatening!

Blog Sketch Thursday!

It's that time again, time for a new sketch here at the My Scraps blog! For my example this week, I used the adorable papers from the "Country Drive" collection from echo park. I just keep finding more and more pictures that are perfect for this line! Keeping withthe echo park theme, the "Springtime" collection is the prize for this week's sketch! We interupt our regularly scheduled posting...

for an EARTHQUAKE. I fully intended to have a scrap spotlight layout done to post today but after the earthquake happened here, no scrapping got done. I had never experienced anything like it before...so scary! My house was a wreck afterward with pictures and items falling, along with a T.V. but nothing broke and better yet, no one was hurt, but it was frightening! Our house really shook and it was really loud. Not something I would want to go through again. We live only about 30 minutes from the earthquakes epicenter so it was felt pretty strongly here.
Tomorrow a new sketch will be posted so please get your layouts in for last weeks sketch by midnight tonight!

Giveaway Monday & a little lift

This post seems like a repeat from last week but it is my turn, again, for the scrap lift challenge today on the forum! I loved this page that I chose to lift so much that I just had to share it here with all of you! Heather created this page with such great design and color! I wanted to keep the bright colors so I used the "Summer Days" collection from echo park on my page of my son and I enjoying a summer treat together. Thanks Heather for the wonderful inspiration!!

Do you hate Mondays? Most everyone dislikes it for some reason or another. during the summer I don't like it because it means that my husbands time with us is over again until the next weekend. When school starts I hate it for the reason I think most do, having to get up early after a fun, relaxing weekend. This is why I chose to make Mondays giveaway day on the My Scraps blog. Hopefully it will make this day just a little bit more bearable for all!! I am getting more and more aware that summer is drawing to a close, so to try to help hold on to the summertime feeling a little while longer, I am giving away the "Lauderdale" collection from Basic Grey. Sketch Challenge Thursday!!

I am so excited to reveal the second sketch challenge here at the My Scraps & More blog! I used the "Oxford" collection from Basic Grey to create this layout of my son, Connor, on his last day of third grade. Besides the great items from Basic Grey, I also used my "sew Easy" tool and handstitched around the three rectangle blocks. I love my sew easy, but boy does it take

F O R E V E R!! If only I could learn to use a sewing machine instead of handstitching, I would save sooo much time. Since I don't plan on getting one any time soon, and really love the look that sewing gives to a page, time it will take. :)

Spotlight on "Zoology" by Bo Bunny

Bo Bunny has been a long time favorite manufacturer of mine and with each new product release, I am always impressed by what they come up with! This collection, "Zoology", is no exception to that. It was the perfect line to use for my son's pictures he took during his 3rd grade field trip to the National Zoo in April. I am the first to admit that I am NOT good at including a lot of photos on a layout. Most of my pages only have one picture, but for this layout, I wanted to figure out a way to include all of the photos that Connor took with his own camera. I thought making a pocket to hold the pics was the perfect way and I am lovin' the result! I used my sew easy tool and handstitched a scrap piece of paper to my page. I then placed one of the journaling cards on top and included my title, "Connors view of the Zoo". If you have some other ideas of including a lot of pictures on a page, I would love to hear them!!

scrap{lift} + giveaway Monday!!

This week it is my turn to do the scrap{lift} challange on the message board. Lifting is one of my favorite challenges to do because it gives me the chance to "copy" some of the great work that is posted into our gallery! For this challenge, I lifted a layout by jguymon. I followed the same design, just made my area a little smaller. The "Country Drive" papers from echo park worked so well with the picture I used of me and my husband. And the pic is not great, but it has a lot of good memories behind it so I just had to scrap it!! Thanks so much to jguymon for the great inspiration!

Design Team Reveal: echo park's "Victoria's Garden"

Each month, here on the My Scraps & More blog, we will have a design team reveal showcasing a product line that we carry in the store. For this reveal, I sent the design girls the Victoria's Garden collection from echo park! echo park has rapidly become a fan favorite both at My Scraps and in the scrapbook world in general. They were voted in the" Top 10 must have's" from Summer CHA. I hope that our layouts inspire you to look at this collection more closely and create some projects of your own!

Wednesday Spotlight on "Out of Print"

For this week's product spotlight, I am choosing to shine the light on the "Out of Print" collection by Basic Grey. At first glance, I loved the colors of this line but wasn't really sure if it was going to be my favorite papers to play with. Now that I have, I can't wait to dig in and play with more! I really liked how all of the patterns flowed so nicely when I started piecing my page together. For this layout I used the following papers: daily news, bits n pieces, newsflash, mish mash, and chip sticker shapes. (notice anything missing from my layout? A !title! I am stumped and would love for you to leave a comment with your ideas!)

If you have created with this paper line, please share a link to it here! I always love Basic Grey but I am not always sure how to create with it. This time, I have to say, I really like the end result!!

scrap{lift}, New Arrivals and giveaway Monday!!

I finally made it to my scrap desk to play, after our short little getaway to New York City last week (more about that later). I used some October Afternoon 5 & dime products and created a layout for the scrap{lift} challenge posted today.
