Tug of War: Tone on tone & Jillibean Soup

Good morning friends! I have been in love with the new trend of using "tone on tone" papers. The subtle look of detail is such a fun look to me. I created this layout for a challenge just for this purpose over at the forum this week.
I knew right away that I wanted to use this stunning paper from Jillibean soup. It is beautiful up close, as it shows a collection of silver glitter, which perfectly mimicked the falling snow in my photo. I added this fun embossed cardstock by Bazzil Basics, adding great dimension also mimicking a winter snow storm.

Since I knew my goal was a tone on tone title, I chose to add watercolor pencils to my cut snowflakes. These are a great tool if water color is a bit intimidating to you. I added some wood dots by My Mind's Eye to the centers of my snowflakes for just the right detail. These dots come in three natural tones, and are quickly taking over my "natural elements" loving heart.

I hope this layout encourages you to try a tone on tone look, and if you need a few more options for this look, don't forget the amazing sale going on in the shop right now.

I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing Sunday, and thank you for peeking in.
