Custom Doilies with Heidi Swapp Color Shine

Hi there, Lisa S here today to share a quick little technique to get you customizing your doilies to match any line of paper.

I love to use Doilies and have a bunch of different sizes and styles in my stash, but the thing is, they are all white.  Sometimes, it is fun to customize the doilies so that you match your paper line as I did for this quick card made from the Fancy Pants True Friend Collection and the Mint Green and Tropical Teal Mists by Heidi Swapp.  Here is where you can find all the colors of Heidi Swapp Color Shine. There are colors to match any line of paper!

To customize my Doilies, I have found it is best to not spray the Mist directly on the doily as it soaks up a ton of it and it can tear the doily just even dabbing it off.  To reduce waste and get a more interesting look, I like to spray the mists onto plastic packaging and dab the doily in it...

A quick hit with my heat gun sets it and drys it nicely and there you have a custom doily for any project!  Thanks for stopping by today!

I love you to the moon...

Hi there, Lisa here today to share a layout I created using my favorite manufacturer, Heidi Swapp.  I honestly think she's genius.  Love her products.  I've been hoarding this constellation paper from Heidi Swapp September Skies for a little while but I couldn't think of a better way to use it than to highlight our family's love saying, "I love you to the moon and back and more than all the stars".  This was obviously too long of a title to use all Thickers, so I broke it up using this Gold Alphabet
The moon die cut came from a Dear Lizzy Ephemera package (you might have it in your stash still!)

FullSizeRender (16)

The fun technique I tried for this layout was to use Modeling Paste and a star stencil to get the raised stars on the paper.  While it was drying I sprinkled it with very fine glitter, so it really glimmers in real life.  I will definitely use this technique again..it looks great and was very easy (and not so messy).  Give it a try and let us know how it works out for you!

"Falling"...and new items arriving this week!

Have you played along with any of our recent sketches on the My Scraps & More Sketch blog?  I created this page based on the latest sketch.

I decided to go with some non traditional fall colors by adding in the navy and the greyish blue  with bits of dark orange and mustard yellow.  Papers are from Elle's Studio Sycamore Lane and Heidi Swapp September Skies.

On my clusters, I added some clumps of twine behind them to add some texture. I also punched a few leaf shapes from patterned paper and added them, too.

Behind my photo, I used a piece of kraft cardstock and embossed it, then went over it with some straw colored distress ink.

The stickers came from this awesome sticker sheet by Bella Blvd which is available in the store:

Hey Brother....

We've been listening to the radio a lot lately in the car, and my little ones love when the song "Hey Brother" by Avicii comes on.  So when I saw the big HEY sticker from the Basic Grey Highline stickers, I decided to use it as the title for my page!

I created some frames around my photo by cutting out the scalloped circles from the rainbow rounds paper by Heidi Swapp.  I added some fun bits to the photos including brads and stickers, and I die cut the words "brother" and "sister" from my machine.  I used the Basic Grey alphas to add part of the song lyrics as a sub title.

Finally, I splattered some mists, sequins, brads, and Heidi Swapp transparencies around the page, and finished by adding some journaling around the edge.
