You / My Mind's Eye

Hey, friends!  Missy here with you today.  I hope you're ready for a fun weekend :)  Today I'm sharing a page I made a few weeks ago for a challenge over on the My Scraps and More boards.  The challenge was to use only one collection (no mixing and matching) and to use several big embellishments from that collection...like big chipboard pieces, banners, dimensional stickers, etc.

I dug through my MME stash and pulled out the Cut & Paste "Adorbs" collection.  Everything on my layout is from that line, with the exception of the pink & white striped washi tape, the clear sentiment stickers, the thread and the background elements.  I started with this beautiful blue and green ombre paper and jazzed it up with some modeling paste and stamps.  I wanted to create a messy and scattered look.  I added some patterned paper layers behind my photos, as well as some pink acrylic paint.  Then I embellished.  I used a few chipboard pieces, several stickers, lots of brads & enamel dots and some washi tape.

Here you can see some of the paste texture and stamping up close.  I added pop dots to this chipboard bubble...I love that it's ombre!

Lots going on here...so much depth and layering.  Dimensional stickers do all the hard work for you...just stick'em and go :)  I love the chipboard frame...I decided to use it as an anchor for all the goodies on top of it instead of putting it on a photo.

I created messy cluster at the bottom of the layout for my title.  I brought the pink paint down there as well as the tape, brads, stickers and enamel dots.  I love clusters!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Enjoy your day!

One Moment in Time

Isn't it strange how we are taking a bunch of random photos and then you print one out or see it on your computer and it is like "wow". That is how I felt about this photo.  Here is the story behind it.

We were doing the traditional family photo shoot on the beach. My other two kids were all into having fun posing and playing around but Austin didn't want any of it. He refused to smile when in the family photos or stand where I wanted him to and was giving big time attitude.  So when we changed locations from the dunes to down closer to the water I said fine you just won't be in any photos.  He went and sat on the other side of a dune and if he would catch me pointing the camera toward him he would turn away.  This was one of those instances where he had turned his head away from me as I snapped a picture and I just decided oh well I'll get lots of pictures of the others.  This turned out to be one of my favorite photos of all the ones we took.  You would never guess the bad mood he was in.

I wanted to keep the LO simple to let the photos stand out.  I used some old My Minds Eye Chalk Studio with a few pieces of Heidi Swapp Dreamy and touches of washi tape to give it a bit of color.

If you have been over to the board you probably saw my No Faces challenge that went up yesterday.  I also created this page with that challenge in mind.

Simple Life

Hey there!
I posted this layout for  the mini GOT TALENT challenge over at My Scraps & More board in July. This is a fun way to play GOT TALENT- no eliminations, a prize every week and a final prize!  How cool is that?!

I used Echo Park Simple Life for this layout of my daughter and some of her classmates playing powder puff football her freshman year:

I added some October Afternoon mini alphas,

and some Calico Studios sequin wood stars:

Hope you will stop on over to the board and play along with us. We would love to have you!
Enjoy your day!

So Proud of You.

Hello and good morning...

Today I am sharing a layout with you using the Fancy Pants Burlap & Bouquets collection. This is a line that is usually not my typical pick, I love bold, bright and playful. But something about this line, the soft feel, flowery prints, and hometown feel drew me in and I really enjoyed using it.

My daughter had her 5th grade promotion back in June and we were so proud of her and her many academic accomplishments this past year. I scrapped the photos of us together after her ceremony.

I fussy cut the flowers and blooms from the Fresh Bouquet paper and layered them, adding some enamel dots for the flower centers.

and fussy cut the Together paper to add a fun border through the top of the page:

And in case you haven't had the chance to check out the latest sketch from the My Scraps & More sketch blog, this page is based off the August 1 sketch.

So make sure to check out the Fancy Pants Burlap & Bouquet collection in the store, there are also a ton of embellies left to have all your coordinating products!!! I'd love to see what you do with the line..

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!!

Smooching Baby Cheeks!

Yep, I said smooching cheeks!  Haha!  It's Missy here with you today, and that's what my layout is all about.

I can't get enough of soft squishy baby cheeks.  This picture of my little Paige is almost three years old, and she's five now.  But she still has these cheeks, and I still have to pry myself away from them most days.  They're just so soft and sweet, and my favorite time to smooch her is first thing in the morning.  I'm a crazy mom, I know :D

Anyway....back on topic.  I created this layout for a Got Talent Challenge last week over on the My Scraps boards.  The challenge was to use a busy background, create a complete sentence for the title, and to mix up the alphas.  I used the Capture Life collection from Echo Park.  I'm in love with this line....holy cow is it gorgeous!  I picked this very busy and loud patterned paper for my background, but I altered it up a bit.  I added gesso and then some watercolors and gelatos.  I added lots of separation from the background and my photo with lots of layers of solids.  Plus I added a bit of vellum in there, too.  I never want to the photo to be drowned out, so I always make sure that nothing overpowers it.

I added a fun die-cut to the background.  This one was made by Wilna over at Two Peas a while back, and I just LOVE it.  I cut it in white and then "messied" it up with a stamp.  I wanted it to show, but not too crazy since the background is busy enough.

A close up of the gesso and gelatos.  I also added some striped washi tape here and there....I LOVE this striped tape.  I use it A LOT.  It's from Michael's.

Messy thread is a great way to add texture and interest to your layouts.  I used a random wooden veneer heard here that I painted blue.  You can also see that I used four different fonts for my title.

The other side of the photo...more thread and a fun arrow paper clip from Hobby Lobby clearance! Score!

I hope this inspires you to use a busy background...it's really fun to challenge yourself to do something you don't normally do.  I'm getting more comfortable with these busy backgrounds.  It's all about finding the balance and not letting it overshadow your photo.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Top 10

Are you playing along with our Got Talent Challenges?  This is my week to host the challenges.  The main challenge went up on Monday to create a page of a top 10.  This could be about you or anyone else as long as the numbers really stood out on your page.  For the challenge I made one of my oldest son, well I decided I couldn't stop there. I used to try to make these every year but got out of the habit.  Here is a page I created with Autumn's top 10 using Fancy Pants What a Wonderful Day collection.  It has surprised me how hard they have had in coming up with 10 favorite things of theirs.

Here you can see how I used the the bold color of the numbers to make them stand out.

Hope you will come play along with us. You have until Sunday night to get your page up to be eligible for the weekly prize. And make sure you check out the mini challenge I put up today to.
