Winter product inspiration

Good morning friends! I'm not sure how it is in your part of the world, but here in New York, winter is full speed ahead. I am new to the area but was told it has been one of the coldest winters in awhile. All this snow makes me want to do little else than stay cuddled up inside, and what better way to spend those days than with pretty paper. There are so many awesome products in the store right now that inspire winter projects, so I found some to share with you, both obvious and not so obvious winter themed products. Let the drooling begin.
I found this awesome cardstock by Bazzil Basics. It has fun tiny embossed dots that perfectly mimicks falling snow.

A not so obvious paper I found comes from the new Saturday Mornings line from October Afternoon that just came in the store. This toast paper reminds me of the chaos of a winter blizzard.

As fellow member Lisa pointed out a few days ago, many of you are not in colder climates, but that shouldn't stop you from creating awesome winter pages. I was inspired by her layout about winter wear. This great paper from Gossamer Blues Get Happy collection just screams winter sweater.

And  no project is complete without some lettering, like these super cute Bella Blvd Amorie Chipboard letters in blueberry!

And of course I cant forget this Oh Deer button set from Fancy Pants. I am IN LOVE with those snowflake buttons, they are just too cute!

I hope these super fun products inspire you to create some super fun winter layouts! All products are in stock in the shop. I cannot wait to see your winter projects on the forum! I hope everyone has an amazingly relaxing Sunday!

Adventure

Hello and hope you are having a good weekend! Jennifer here today to show a layout I created using Fancy Pants Designs' True Friend collection. I love the rich colors of this line!  They go perfect with pretty much any theme you need!

I used different sized circle punches with the fun patterns and layered them on the bottom half of my page. I then added some spray ink splatters, as well as enamel dots and coordinating buttons. My wooden veneer title is from my stash (made by Heidi Swapp).

Here, I layered a few of the True Friend stickers and added in a wooden veneer arrow and button.

A few more close-ups of my page!

An Everyday Thing

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here with you today.  I'm excited to share my latest layout created for the My Scraps Sketch Blog.  The new sketch goes up later this morning, so be sure to check it out HERE.  We have Heather Leopard as a guest designer, so you won't want to miss it!

I pulled out the Echo Park Creative Agenda for this page.  I really liked the diagonal elements in the sketch, so I used two colorful papers (the orange and aqua) for those pieces.  I added a lot of gesso and some modeling paste over a Hero Arts stencil.  I used gelatos to make colorful smudges here and there.  I didn't use that many patterned papers under my photos.  One pink piece and a piece of vellum.  The rest is washi tape, stickers and chipboard from the collection.

Here you can really see the texture that the paste and the stitching creates.  I like that the paste created a subtle pattern.  It's not overwhelming.  And it was really easy to rub some gelatos right on top of it.  I cut "everyday" on my Cameo and mixed it with the alphas in the EP collection.

I know I've mentioned this a million times, but adding pop dots under your photos makes a huge difference.  You're able to add little bits and pieces under it, like thread, stickers and chipboard.  Plus the dimension they give is awesome.

Here's something I've learned along they way while playing with gesso.  If you spread it thin enough on top of patterned paper (like this orange paper), it dries the color of the paper under it.  I really didn't have to add much gelato to some of this section.  The thicker it is, the whiter it is.  It all depends on the look you're going for.  I added lots of little goodies over here, including a fun flair pin.

I hope this inspires you to give our new sketch a try!  The Sketch Team has done a great job, and there is a lot of inspiration over on the Sketch Blog.  Go check it out :)

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Missy :)

New Beginnings

Hi there, Lisa here today to share a page I created for our Word Up Wednesday Challenge.  My challenge is to use the word "new" on your page.  I created this layout using Crate Paper Open Book paper and Simple Stories DIY Boutique paper. I also used lots of bits from a Dear Lizzy ephemera pack and tried a couple of new techniques while I was at it!

Here's a close up of the two new (to me) techniques I tried..washi tape, and modeling paste OVER watercolor.

and a closeup of all the fun little bits and bobs tucked under a Cameo Cut.

Hope to see you playing along with my challenge!

Happy Hump Day!!
Lisa here today to share a layout I created with sketch #97 from the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog.
I used American Crafts Dear Lizzy Serendipity for this layout of my daughter:

The pink in this line was perfect for her dress and the gold accents were perfect for this dressy page! Here are a few close ups:

Family and Friends.

Hello and good morning...

I have to say there is nothing better, than a big get together with family and friends. Memories like these are made, and usually last a long time. It's great to catch up and see what people have been up esp as you get older, and everyone seems to get more spread out. We had a pre-Thanksgiving get together at a friends house, along with some family mixed in, and everyone had a great time. We had an adult and kid table to break it up a bit.

I used the Dear Lizzy Serendipity collection for this page. I was totally drawn to the pinks and turquoise in the line, I'm such a sucker for those colors together. Plus, when you scrap for a boy and a girl, it's nice to make a line work for both genders.

I fussy cut a few of the mason jars from paper, and added pink and aqua misting and ink splats.

And used the gold/white alphas from the collection for my title and subtitle. I couldn't help but add on a few enamels- I mean they pretty much work with any project right?

In case you haven't checked out the Jan 1 sketch on the My Scraps and More sketch blog, I used sketch #97 on this layout and there's a prize pack of Dear Lizzy Serendipity to play for.

Make sure to check out the Dear Lizzy line in the store, there is a ton of fun papers left to grab up...

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

It's..a date?

Here's the latest page I made with some goodies from Crate Paper Open Book and Amy Tan Stitched!  Hubby totally surprised me with a date night (which he NEVER does) and even allowed me to do selfies of us in the restaurant!!

I changed my photos to black and white because they were so grainy and yellowish because of the lighting.  I also went small with them, so they fit better with the "stripes" of the patterned paper.
