Member of the Month for January

Hello and Happy New Year!
I am excited to announce our member of the month for January!
She is Michelle, known on the message board as mmgallant.
Let's learn a little more about Michelle. Here is what she had to say in her own words:

Hi there, my name is Michelle Gallant, I live in NB Canada with my hubby and two beautiful kids.

I've been scrapping for about 7 years.

I went to a class with a friend and it was love at first cut! Scrapbooking has given me a way to let my creative side go wild! LOL

I love to play with inks and stamps but I don't like to get my hands dirty (this can sometimes be tricky)! I sometimes even scrap on my lunch hour (blush). Who needs food when you can scrap right??? Scrapbooking has also led me to a love of photography!

Here is my blog: scrapsandpixels.blogspot.ca/

Here are a few things you may not know about me:
I am scared of spiders!!
I do not eat any kind of seafood.
I cannot sleep in a quiet room. My ceiling fan is always on!
I need a glass of milk in the morning to get me going. I don't drink coffee.
I am an only child.

December of the Month!

I am excited to announce our member of the month for December!
It is Peggy, known on the message board as Favoritegrandma.

Let's learn a little bit more about Peggy in her own words:

Hello! I was very honored when Lisa asked me to be December’s Member of the Month.

My name is Peggy Goehring. I was born and raised in South Dakota. My husband, Jim of 40 years and I have 2 daughters. Our oldest daughter and granddaughter live only minutes away and our youngest daughter and son-in-law live with us while their dream house is being built.

We lived in the Midwest until Jim’s retirement in 2002 and moved to Florida in 2003 to escape the cold winters. I am a SAHG – Stay At Home Grandmother – helping raise our favorite (and only) 10 year old granddaughter, Katie since she was 1 years old. We are very involved in her life, attending all her events at school and Church.

I started scrapping at age 9 when I needed to keep record books in 4-H and it progressed into scrapbooks. I have redone some of those books as they weren’t acid-free and mostly contained memorabilia instead of pictures. Some of the pictures were badly damaged, but I have been able to rescue the majority of them.

My scrappy style is all over the place, kind of eclectic I guess.

I would love to have you stop by my blog for a visit – even though I go in spurts posting.

Things about me you may not know:

1) This is my second year as Katie’s classroom Grandma; the students call me “Miss Peggy” and/or “Grandma”.
2) We live 30 minutes from Walt Disney World and can hear the fireworks at night.
3) I have visited 47 of the 50 states – yet to visit are Alaska, Wisconsin and Michigan.
4) I painted Katie’s bedroom a mural of “Pixie Hollow” fairyland.
5) I have machine stitched and hand quilted over 50 quilts of different sizes – giving most of them away.

I am blessed to have found My Scraps & More – the design team is sooooo…. inspirational, the challenges and crops are the best. Thank you for all you do helping me tell my stories.

Here are some of my favorite projects of Peggy's:

November Member of the Month!

I am so excited to announce the Member of the Month for November!  Let's get to know KAREN (soccerboyzmom) a little bit better!

     *****************************
I am so honored by this forum to be featured.  I live in Chino, CA in the 909.  I am a single Mom who has raised her 2 sons, whom I call MEN since they are now 27 & 28.  I have 2 adopted Beagles, Jagger Meister and Brandi.  I retired 1 year ago after teaching High School for 32 years dealing with 9-12th graders.

How long have you been scrapping?

I have been scrapping seriously the last 5 years, but really started in 2000.

What got you into scrapping?

My sons cub scout leader was having a CM party and thought it would be a good idea to scrap the kids pictures as a den.  She reprinted all the pictures and brought them.  I went with intentions of buying nothing, but got hooked.  For about 1 year a few of us would go over  every other week and scrap cub scouts.  We even ventured to a scrapbook store and there wasn't much out, but fun buying embellishments.  I got busy and put it aside for about 5 years and then stayed with it.

What do you consider your scrappy style?

Not sure what you call it, but far away from the simple style I started with.  I love embellishments and layers, maybe trendy.

Do you have a blog?

Yes I have a blog and you can see my work on:  http://www.calmcreations.blogspot.com/

What is your favorite thing about My Scraps &More?

First would be the people and challenges, next would be the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog and last I have to say the new game , Pass it On.  I love to see how the layout evolves from one sketch.

Tell us 5 things we don't know about you.

1.  I am about 18 years behind on scrapping my son's pictures, but just keep plugging along
2.  My oldest son is getting married in June in BgBear, CA
3.  I love Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks and have become good friends with my Barista
4.  I love the color combo of Purple and Gray, so much I painted my bedroom lavender, with purple accents and have gray carpet.
5.  I collect coffee mugs from where I go, my son even brought me back a mug from Starbucks in Ireland.

Thank you again, My Scraps & More for making my everyday.
