Playin' all day!

Of course with the warm weather we are outside ALL the time now.  But the kids aren't the only ones who are happy about that...the dog is glad that we are finally joining her in the yard for some play time!

I did this page based on a sketch at Lily Bee blog using papers from the Lily Bee Pinwheel and Sweet Shoppe collections:

I kept the design simple since the patterns can be a little bold, but what I love about Lily Bee papers is that the prints are small, so they aren't as overpowering.  And you can mix and match the papers so easily!

A few chipboard pieces and some machine stitching...

And I also have found a few things in my stash to use like this scalloped die cut and buttons.

If you haven't checked out these collections yet, you should!  They are awesome for everyday pages, and all kinds of events!

Hats off to you!

The minute I saw the Fancy Pants Swagger line I just loved the pattern in it, but I was stuck on the hats.  I couldn't figure out what to do with them.  They really are not anything that goes with the type of photos I scrap which is mostly kids activities.  Then with all the graduation talk lately the saying "hats off to you" popped into my head and I thought what a great card it would make and I'd get some use out of the hats.

Cool Summer!

Hello and good morning!
I don't know about you but I am ready for summer! Summer to me means water fun, picnics, camping and bike rides! For Mother's Day this year, my kids and husband got me a new bike, which I desperately needed since my old bike had no brakes.
For my layout, I used the Carta Bella Cool Summer Collection and a Let's Get Sketchy sketch. The colors in this collection went perfect with my bike color, PINK!

 

To tone down the background paper, I added a little gesso around the edges and then added green paint spatters.

Summer Chick

Hello and good morning...

Even though school isn't out yet, I am totally in the mood for summer. Last weekend we had a bit of a heatwave and I'm about ready to jump in the pool and cool off. One line that is all about summer is Echo Park's A Perfect Summer line. It's packed with playful colors, images and patterns for ALL your summer photos.

I created this layout about my lil one decked out in her swimwear. We got an early start to summer, while the kids went swimming at their cousins at the end of April.

I loved the fun Sunshine paper, and the large sun on the page, but didn't want to use it for the full background. Instead, I went with splitting it up and adding some other papers in there to tone down the large print.

I also used some of the cool chipboard embellishments to the page for some dimension:

So get out there... and take your camera to the pool, the beach, the park, or even the backyard, and then get ready to scrap those photos with the EP A Perfect Summer collection...

Did I really just type June??!! Where has this school year gone?? This is the last week of school for my daughter. She graduates from High School on the 15th and will get ready to start the next journey in her life. Bittersweet for this Mom. I don't want to think of our daily life without her at home. I plan to take a TON of pictures this summer to help document this time of her life! Besides getting your kid's captured on film, it is also important to get yourself in the photo every now and then. I am guilty of this. I hate getting my picture taken though I do enjoy seeing us all together. Using last week's sketch on the blog, here is a page I created of my husband and I at the beach a couple summers ago. I used "The Pier" collection by Crate paper (which I love)...

Peekaboo...Where Are You?

Hey there, My Scraps friends!  Missy here today, and I'm sharing a fun page I created using the Pinwheel and Sweet Shoppe lines from Lily Bee. 

I've been on a rainbow kick lately, and so I went through both lines and chose several patterns & colors that created a rainbow.  I love the black and white chevron paper, but I didn't want it to be too busy up next to the patterned strips.  So I backed them onto black cardstock, and then I smudged black paint around the edges to create more separation.  Then, I took paint and literally just squeezed it straight from the bottle right onto my page and just let it drip.  I squirted some water onto the drips to help them drip even more because the paint is thick.

I cut my big title on my Cameo...I don't use big titles often enough!

Both of these lines are available HERE in the My Scraps Store.  They're very fun to work with, and they coordinate very well together!

Summer is HERE!

This past few days has been super hot and it's really starting to feel like summer!  We've started whipping out all the fun summer toys, like the kiddie pool!  Sometimes I think kiddos have just as much fun in these little pools as they do in large pools!

I used today's sketch on the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog that I designed and some papers and embellies from Crate Paper "The Pier" and some scraps from a few other Crate Paper lines.

I did an ombre effect with some blue papers from different collections on the bottom of the page.

The chipboard elements from The Pier collection are just awesome for summer pages!
