July DT Reveals: Here's Wendy!

Good Morning all!  I hope everyone is surviving these weird weather patterns plaguing us!

We had a run of temps over 100, then a drastic drop down to 80, and this week is going back up to 100.  I'm really wanting it to be Fall right now....

But in the meantime, since I am hiding from the sun, the heat, the humidity,....and everything else that goes with it, I made a few pages for this month's reveal using Jillibean papers.  I was given a mix of Homemade 6 Bean Soup and Sweet and Sour Soup.

I really like the versatility of all the designs and colors.  I tried to mix up a few techniques too.

On my first page, I used a Gluber and some ribbon to make my own flowers.  And the leaves were cut out of larger leaves.

I added a bit of twine to my papers and put the butterflies on pop dots to make them "fly".

Here was an attempt at making a "quilted" page to go with the journal card.  I added more twine and brads to "tie" it all together.

And this page was put together with lots of scraps.  I love how all the different circles came together so well.

Stick with us this week as the rest of the DT will be revealing all of their wonderful projects!  You won't want to miss out on the inspiration!

Have a great week!!!

Hello Summer

This past weekend, I spent some time cleaning up my scrap desk --- otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to scrap!!!  It was piled high with so many things; from scrap stuff, to packages, to the kids' art journals.  No wonder I haven't felt very creative!

Once I had that all  mostly cleared off, I got to work and had quite a productive scrapping weekend!  I finished up some DT work as well as some challenges.  I am still finding myself drawn to those bright colors.  Loving it!

Here I utilized an old paper from MME's Love Me Do line as my base and from there, I only used scraps that I had been helping to clutter up my desk.  Seriously every other bit on this layout was a scrap!    I think it came together rather nicely.....

One of these scraps is from the July DT papers....can you guess what line we used?  The DT reveals start tomorrow so be sure come check them out!

I Need Sunshine!

It has been raining - not a drizzle, a sprinkle or a mist- but raining with thunder and lightning for seven days. I am so over it! The only good thing is you have to stay inside and get your scrap on! Amory has been making cards for everyone to spread a little sunshine and I have chosen this yellow inspired layout to spread sunshine this way!
This layout I made using this sketch from Lucy Chesna from My Sketch World. Sketches are my go to - I always start a layout with a sketch - it helps me organize my thoughts!
Speaking of sketches have you checked out the Got Talent II challenges in the forum? Each Friday a sketch with a challenging twist is posted. On Tuesdays a mini challenge is offered! Go check it!
I used several different October Afternoon collections - all the colors seemed to work so well together!

Distress is Best

OK well maybe not the best but I certainly do love the distressed look.  It just seems to give a page that extra something special, not to mention the dimension it gives to a page.  My albums are quite bulky because I love distressing.  Here is  a page I created with some layered distressing using Bo Bunny's Barefoot and Bliss Collection.

Celebrate!

Good morning and happy Wednesday!
Lisa here with you this morning to share a card I made using a doily as a mask. All I did was lay the doily on my card base and spray Glimmer Mist over it. I used the Lily Bee Buttercup Collection for my celebrate card, arent the colors of this collection pretty?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your day with us!

Mix it Up!

If you are like me (and I know many of you are!) you have more paper than you know what to do with. So often, I use a line for a while then end up with scraps and random pieces and then have trouble going back and using them! Well I went through all that paper and put all the lines that would work well together in one place and guess what - I actually used them! Here is a LO I did using the 2 Jillibean kraft based lines I had - Game Day Chili and Chilled Strawberry Soup! And I love that the back of every piece is solid kraft - it makes it so easy to use. And keep your eyes peeled for more great projects coming from Jillibean Soup ;)

Have a great week!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone! My name is Missy, and I’m currently a Design Team member here at My Scraps & More. This is my first blog post—all of our team is pulling together to help out our wonderful leader, Tammi, as she continues to deal with her father’s passing. We are all praying for her and doing all we can to help out on the scrappy front.

I’m sure by now you’ve heard about our My Scraps Got Talent II contest going on all summer. It’s loaded with awesome sketches by some fabulous designers. The latest challenge is a sketch by the amazing Julie Bonner. In addition to using the sketch, you must also use at least three punches. They can be border or shape punches. Check out the sketch:

Here is the layout I made using the sketch. I wound up flipping it to accommodate my photos. I love the circle element here! I also love mixing up all the different punches.

We’d love for you to join us if you haven’t already…there are so many things going on and prizes to win! Don’t miss out!
