Watermelon and coming soon!

June is OVER???!!!  Where did the time go?  Today we start week 5 of the Got Talent contest!  Your challenge this week is to use red and green predominantly on your page and to punch holes in something.  It does NOT have to be a Christmas/Holiday theme.  I used the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine Collection in the shop!

I cut out a heart from some reddish paper and then stitched around the outside with red thread.

The font that I cut with my Cameo is simply called "Hole".  As an afterthought, maybe I should have backed the title with some black paper instead?  Oh well, I still like it!

Be sure to stop by the forums to see all that is going on!  Check it out HERE.

********************Coming Soon**************

The following are coming to the store mid-to late July:

Pink Paislee Solstice

Crate Paper Notes & Things

Studio Calico Brighton Pier

***************Gallery**************

We are exploring a potential new gallery through Flickr.  Read THIS POST on how to sign up and get started!  There is also an incentive for those who upload layouts and comments.

Today I want to show you how to upload your photos to a group:

1. Log into Flickr.  Once you log in, you will see an "UPLOAD" button at the top.

2.  On the next screen click "Choose Photos or Videos".  Select the images you want to upload. (PC users, did you know that you can select multiple images from your files by holding down the control key and clicking on the images you want?  Try it!)  Once you've done that your files will appear here.  Click on each layout.  On the left, you will see the title and a place to add any tags (for example, you can use the tags gottalent or junechallenge).  Your photos are now part of your PERSONAL PHOTOSTREAM.  Next you can upload them to a group if you'd like. You can always upload them to a group at a later date if you prefer.

3.  You MUST be a member of the My Scraps & More Group before you can upload to your page.  Click on the "Add to Groups" button in the left panel and then click which groups you want to add to. Once you've added it,the group will show up in the left column under the "groups" tab for that layout.  Repeat for each layout you want added to a group.

4.  When you are finished, click the blue "Upload" button in the top right and you are done!

Next week I will show you how to insert your image into a forum thread from Flickr.

Best Ever Big Book

Happy Friday, My Scraps fans!  Missy here with you today.  Have you ever began a layout and you really had no idea where it was going or where it was going to wind up?  This is one of those layouts.  I had my four photos and at first I just couldn't figure out how I wanted to arrange them.  Vertial?   Horizontal?  All mixed up?  I finally decided on an uneven horizontal row.  I really love this new Public Library line from October Afternoon, and it's perfect for book or reading photos.

It's kind of funny...after I decided to lay my photos in this design and add the different color paint strips in the background, I noticed the newest sketch on the OA blog is pretty much just like this!  I had no idea.  I used some gesso that I toned down with some tan colored paint to blend out some of the words on the background.  I took my trusty watercolors and created a nice colorful color wash until I was happy with the colors.  The rest is layers of paper under the photos and lots of fun ephemera, stickers and flair.  This collection (and a few from Daily Flash) is FULL of little bits and pieces to add.

I created this layout for today's challenge over on our boards.  The challenge is to take some old alphas from your stash and alter them somehow.  I used some really old white chipboard Thickers and used some small alpha stamps to add random letters to them.  I also used a red gelato to add a bit of color to them.  Easy and fun!

I used pop dots on a few of the photos for dimension.  I also used a few random rub-ons I found sitting on my desk.  You really never know what may pop up on my desk these days....it stays full of scrappy stuff...haha!

More layers....stickers, flair....I even used my Tiny Attacher to adhere a few things.  I love this stapler!

Here's a closer look at my altered letters.  I love taking ordinary parts and making them different and unique!

We'd love to see you join us over on the boards for our challenges!  I  hope this inspires you to take something old and alter it to make it cool again :)   (Although I have to say Thickers never go out of style, right?!)

Have a great day!

Missy :)

Got Talent Mini Challenge

Have you been playing along with our Got Talent challenges?  This is my week to post the challenges.  My main challenge went up on Monday and if you are a fan of project life or never had the incentive to try it you should go check out my challenge.  Today my mini challenge went up which gives you a second chance of winning the weekly prize.  Here is the sample LO for the challenge using Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine.

You will have to excuse some of the glare.  It is not easy to photograph Project Life pages in the protector.

Road Trip!

Hello and happy hump day!
Lisa here with you today to share a layout I created using a variety of products from the My Scraps & More Store.

Here are a few close ups:
I added light modeling paste with a stencil and then added watercolors and a black Sharpie. I fussy cut the clouds:

I also fussy cut the car:

I used:
Heidi Swapp Dreamy- Dreamy Dots paper and Ticket to Ride paper

I enjoy mixing papers and embellies from different manufacturers, but I don't do it very often. It's just easier to grab one line and use it. Do you mix and match different lines when you scrap?

My Lil Animal and Celebrate.

Hello and good morning...

With the Got Talent challenge going in full swing right now in the forum, I thought I would share two of the projects that I made recently using the Simple Stories DIY Boutique collection. I just loved the fun, bold colors and the black and white papers in the collection, it really made for some fun pattern mixing.

I made this page of my little one, who was wearing some animal glasses. I mixed and matched the pattern papers for a "loud" page.
I fussy cut out a few of the frames from the Freeze Frame paper and just added them as embellishments to my page:

I also added some enamel dots, and a few of the Chic Tags and stickers strips:

With my scraps  I made this fun card:

I added a ribbon pleat with stitching across the center :

If you haven't already started playing along with the Got Talent challenges, its not too late, you can still join in and play along...

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day

Check out the Gallery!

We are experimenting with a new gallery at My Scraps & More using Flickr. It is very user friendly and easy to navigate through. Plus there is a great iPhone app with it, too!

We would LOVE to have you come browse and even sign up and contribute!

1. Go to www.flickr.com and create an account. If you already have a yahoo account, you just use your yahoo login. You can also log in with Facebook, too.

2. Once you create an account, you can start uploading your photos to your photostream. If you want your photos to be seen by others, you need to make them "public". These public ones you can share in the My Scraps & More group (and any other group you wish to be a part of).

3. Next, you need to join the My Scraps Group: www.flickr.com/groups/myscrapsandmore/

4. Once you are a member of the My Scraps Group, you can add photos from your photostream to the group and share! You can leave comments, particpate in discussions, and LOTS more! You can also post your photos to your facebook page from there and lots of other social media things, too.

5. The benefit for the store is that anyone who searches for "scrapbook galleries" can find My Scraps & More (but everyone who contributes must be a member first).

6. NOTE: You will notice that there are no "albums" or categories for the layouts (i.e., no "Got Talent" album). Instead, you have to tag your photos with words that will be predetermined. For example, I tagged one of my pages with junechallenge. If you search for junechallenge, you will see all the pages with that tag. You can add as many tags as you want to your photos, BUT if we do a contest or challenge, we will give you a specific tag to use for that event. If you want to try tagging your photos, you can start with the tags: junechallenge and gottalent, if your photo applies to those categories.

***********Layout*************
I have been really into using my Silhouette lately to cut out some unique shapes to use on my pages.  I found this circle one with leave shapes cut out.  I backed some of the open spaces with patterned papers and then stitched around the outside of the circle.

There is a whole bunch of fussy cutting with the flowers, and then I layered some other die cuts and vellum pieces.

I've been doing a lot of color challenges lately, and this one was based on one at Color Me Scrappy.

Papers are from Glitz "Finnley", MME "Now & Then Mildred", and Crate Paper "Maggie Holmes Styleboard".

Pocket Cards on a Layout

Hey there, friends!  Missy here.  Today I'm sharing a fun and easy page I created for the big Summer-long Got Talent Contest over on our boards, and I created this one for a "create a grid" challenge last week.  I have tons of these Project Life/Pocket Cards from several collections, and they make it really easy to create a grid.

I pulled out some of the Record It Just Splendid cards from my My Mind's Eye collection and went to work.  I picked out the ones I liked and that matched my photos and laid them out.  I don't have a sewing machine, so I used a border stamp that looks like stitching.  I used lots of embellishments around the photos, and I made my very first pinwheel.  I really like how it turned out :)

I adhered my cut file title to transparency paper to make it easier to adhere to the layout.  I also used some stickers, brads and drywall tape to add some interest around the picture cluster.

I threw in some paint and stamping, as well...

I know these were all the rage several months ago, but I just never got around to trying it.  Turns out, it's really easy...haha!  Love the summer feel of it.

Messy thread to add more color and texture...so easy to do :)

This drywall tape is amazing!  It's easy to cut and tear, and it holds color well.  You could even use it as a mask....that's next on my list :)

You are more than welcome to come jump in at any time during the Summer if you'd like to play along with us!  There are weekly challenges as well as a big one at the end.  Come check it all out HERE!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

Flowers Anyone?

Do you use flowers on your LO's?  I remember when flowers were my must have embellishments.  I was so excited when I had a girl and could use flowers on my pages. I bought them in all colors and sizes, but now I've found I don't really use flowers very much.  For this page using Fancy Pants As You Wish I dug out some of my old stash to soften this page.

Going Places

Hey there Scrappy Friends!
Lisa here today to share I layout I created using a sketch I made for my challenge on Tuesday over on the message board.
I used Fancy Pants As You Wish for this layout of my DH and son:

I cut a star out of cardstock with my Cricut, traced it on my background and then stitched it by hand. I colored it in with watercolors:

Here are a few close ups:

I cut the chevrons using my hexagon punch and then popped them up with foam tape:

Here is the sketch I created for this challenge:

Hope you will join us on the message board and play along with my sketch!

Tiki Man

Hello and good morning....

I am one of those people that actually really enjoy travel lines. We don't get to travel as much as we want to, but I sure enjoy the chance when we get it. But, this line also works great with non travel pages too.

I scrapped this photo of Jeremy while we were in Hawaii, it's his imitation of the tiki statue that was at our hotel. This statue made us laugh every time we saw it.

I used some Chic Tags Let's Go line and embellies on the page.
How cool is it that the line also had both of the airports printed on it, that we actually used for this trip... LOVE that!!!

I used a couple of their tags from the Cloud 9 collection and then added some enamels and cork stars for embellies. The "adventures" word strips was part of the extra strip from the Let's Go Destination paper. I always love getting a little extra from the strips.

Thanks sooo much for stopping by and have a great day

New Fancy Pants and Echo Park!

I wanted to share one of my favorite layouts recently.  I created this page with Crate Paper Open Road and Studio Calico South of Market.  The design kind of came to me in my head and I went with it!  But my most favorite part about this page is the photo of my dad and daughter, and the story behind my daughter's "Favorite Friend"-her Boppy!  :)

*********Store News*************

I am so excited about the new arrivals in the store today!!!!!

And THREE new collections from Fancy Pants:

Look in the store later today to see all the items!!!
