Third Grade

I'm not sure it is possible for Simple Stories to create a collection that I don't love.  Their Smarty Pants collection is one of my new faves and I certainly have an unending amount of different photos for school events.  I created this page of my 9 year old Austin. I'm actually getting a school photo scrapped in the year it was taken, amazing feat.  Now maybe I can go back and do last years that I haven't done :)

I just love all the tags that come with this collection.  Not all kids love school.  Austin is there for the socialization and could do without the learning.  So many lines stick to things like school is cool and A+ Student.  These tags fit my boy so much better!

I loved the glasses that came with the sticker sheet.  This is the first year my son has had to wear glasses, so they were just the perfect addition. And here is a little sampling of one of my new loves, modeling paste!  I've become quite addicted to adding little touches of it on my pages.

School Pics

Hello and good morning....

Each year I'm always nervous to see how the kids school photos are going to turn out. Will they have pictures after recess? Will they be all sweaty and gross? Or even worse... pictures after lunch...lol. This past year, I thought their school photos turned out pretty good and I really enjoy scrapping wallet size photos.

I used October Afternoon's Milk Money  line for the pictures and LOVED all the fun school patterns that it offered. From the periodic table to the composition black and white notebook papers.
Of course, I couldn't resist adding the cute lil fox on the page:

I added some of the sticker element stars and some enamel dots to the page, along with a notebook border punch:

So break out those school photos and scrap them...

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!!!!

Giveaway Monday-Lily Bee!

I just read this morning on the Lily Bee blog that the owner, Kristin, has decided to step away for a while because of some big life events.  You can read all the details HERE on the Lily Bee blog.

I have always LOVED Lily Bee products and have been working with some of their latest releases the past few weeks.  Here is a page I made with this sketch from this past Friday on the My Scraps & More Sketch Blog.

I stuck closely to the sketch and added a few other elements there and there.  I have been using my Cameo a LOT lately to make my titles!

I added in a few burlap elements to give the page some texture and painted some wood veneer flowers the same color red as the papers in the We Are Family collection from Lily Bee, which you can find HERE in the store!

So in light of what is happening at Lily Bee, I am going to give away some paper from the Urban Autumn and We Are Family collections this week!  Please leave comments throughout the week on the blog and I will choose one random day and one random comment from that day to win a prize!

Crazy About Books

Hey there, My Scraps friends :)  Missy here with you today.  Here's a layout I created for Wednesday's Word Up Challenge.  The word was "crazy," and even though my photos are pretty tame, they show how my little Reesie is crazy about books.  I used some Jillibean Soup products on this project.

I added some modeling paste to the back.  I colored it first by adding some yellow acrylic paint to it.  I also added in a few touches of blue watercolor here and there.  The rest is layers, stickers and labels.

I outlined my title with a white pen to make it pop against the background.  I layered the letters stickers for the word "books."

I just love pop dots!  They can make the average sticker just jump right off the page.

Paste and thread...both have amazing texture.  I also threw in a piece of torn vellum.

Layering stickers is also fun...just make things more interesting :)

If you aren't a member of our forum, we sure hope you join us!  We have fun challenges going on all the time and prizes up for grabs.  You can go HERE to check things out.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!

Playing with the all new "That's My Boy"

I just received the new collection from Echo Park, "That's my Boy"! Can I say LOVE!! I think that I am going to have to order some more already because I can see myself reaching for this collection again and again and again!! After I got most of this page put together, I felt that it just needed something. I sat and stared at it, looked at the sticker sheets that are part of the collection, but got nothing. All of a sudden I got an idea and thought of the Simple Stories "Smarty Pants" line so I pulled that out and found that these two lines work so well together! Don't ya love when that happens??!! I usually just stick to one line on all of my pages so this was fun to mix it up a bit!!

I hid the journaling on the bingo card stuck behind the photo.

I used a Simple Stories Snap 3x4 card and cut it apart to create these three die cuts! I added some string to make them stand out a little more.

I didn't use it on my page, but this is my favorite paper in this EP line. My son is a huge video game fan so I have lots of ideas to use this one!

Both of these collections, EP's That's My Boy

and Simple Stories Smarty Pants

are available in the store now so go and grab them while you can! There is a 25% off code to save you some $ too but use it soon because it expires at midnight tonight January 24th...  OPENJAN14 .

If you are a Simple Stories fan like myself, Audrey is giving some of their products away this week! Visit this post and leave a comment plus visit each daily post of the week and leave comments (including this one) for some extra draws!! Good luck!!

Enjoy your weekend!!

Almost a month into 2014

Can you believe we are already almost a full month into the New Year.  Time sure does fly by the older I get.  This is why I treasure this hobby that we all share.  The ability to document these little moments in our life for all to remember.  So many memories become fresh in my mind as I scrap.  Things I have forgotten, so I'm sure my kids do too.  This way they will have these memories forever, even when their mind is as old as mine:)

This was just one of those everyday moments of my son outside trying to fly a kite and deciding pulling it behind his bike was much better than running down the road with it since we had no wind.  I used Simple Stories Daily Grind and Color Vibe.

In The Meadow...

We can build a snowman!  Are you singing along with me yet? LOL

Good morning and happy Wednesday scrappy friends!
Today I am sharing a layout I created using Fancy Pants Timbergrove. Fancy Pants has been one of my favorite manufactures lately. I just love all the fun embellies they are putting out!

Here is my snowman building layout:

I added some paint and ink to the background and used a red marker to create faux stitching on my alphas to make them pop:

I added foam tape and layered borders. I also used a scalloped circle punch and punched the corrugated white paper to give a snow effect:

I fussy cut the snowmen and snowlady and added Stickles:

This is such a fun winter line!

Just Chillin Out

Hello and good morning.....

One of the fun challenges over on the forums is the Saturday Steal challenge, where a member's page is picked and then we are able to lift it and make it our own. I found a cool page by Celeste called "Life's A Beach."  I was instantly drawn to the stitched circle and fun open space.

I used  some of the Lily Bee We Are Family collection for this page. I really love the fun bright colors and images.
The photo is about my little one who sometimes does silly things. Like climb in a tub and then read her books and watch cartoons at the same time.. LOL.. funny kid...

I added several sticker strips for the wording, added some stitching at the top of the page and misting:

I also mixed two different stitches for the circle sewing:

Make sure to check out the forums and play along with the challenges over there...

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day!!!

A Fun & Happy Layout :)

Hey there, My Scraps fans!  Missy here today.  Don't you just love the new look of our blog?  I love the  new header!  I'm so excited to share this layout with you...it's one of my favorites so far!  I created it last week for our Saturday Steal Challenge.  I lifted a page from the super talented Wendi Robinson, who is also a fellow DT member.  She used a big sunburst on her page, so I was immediately drawn to it.  I pulled out my sunburst stencil and watercolors and went to work.

All of my papers and most of my embellishments are from the Bella Blvd Snapshots and Daily Chevies collections.  I'm not a huge Bella scrapper, but these lines were just too cute to pass up!

This camera stamp is one of my new favorite items.  It's from a little set I picked up at Michael's a few weeks ago.  It's Recollections, and I have to say that every stamp I've ever bought from that brand is awesome.  They stamp so clearly and perfectly every time....no sticking and no unevenness.  And some pink floss to throw in a little bit more color in that area.  That is such a great and easy way to add a color splash!  And it's fun to just tangle up some thread and glue it down!  You can't mess it up.

A template, some modeling paste, some watercolors, a black pen to outline and some stamps...the greatest way to create texture, add interest, and make a mess all at the same time :)  FUN!

Paper layers are my favorite.  I love these arrow stickers, and I used a few pop dots to raise it up.  I also added a few more stamps here and there.  This little triangle/arrow stamp is from the Glitz Wild & Free collection.  I love it and have been using it a lot.

You should come check out our boards if you haven't....lots of fun challenges going on and monthly prizes are given away.  Our store's new owner, Audrey Yeager, is busy getting all the inventory set up for all of us!  She is setting up shop up in New York, and everything should be ready to go February 1st.  I know she'll have sooooo many of the new CHA lines when they become available, so be sure to keep checking in HERE for updates!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!
