Play and Water Fun...

Hello and good morning...

If you haven't gotten a chance to check out the Spring into Summer Crop that is going on right now over in the My Scraps & More forum.. you better get over there and check it out.

For my summer challenge, I wanted to do something with water. Summer to me is all about getting wet, staying cool, and relaxing in water. Anything from the pool, to going to the beach, or just running in the sprinklers. For this page I focused on water and blues:
I used the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss and pulled all the blues out of it.
I also used blue misting to create a "watery" feel.

For my Spring Challenge, I went with the idea of something NEW and something OLD. Spring is always about new growth and new beginnings, and at the same time, leaving the OLD melting snow, and long days
I used the Simple Stories Urban Traveler Collection, on a non travel page. I thought the patterns and colors were perfect for a sports page. I LOVE using themey papers with NON themed photos.

Make sure to join us at the crop, it's not too late.

Have a wonderful day

I want to thank all of you who took the time to participate in our Spring into Summer blog hop! We had 35 participants email me their answers for the hop. Out of those, random.org chose this lucky lady...

Hi,
This was so much fun!  Here are my answers:

Thanks for the chance to win!
Miriam

Congratulations!! Please send me an email with your shipping address and I will get those Hopscotch papers out to you!! If you did not get the chance to play along with our crop challenges, there is still plenty of time. Your projects are due to be posted on the forums by May 5th so go and check out all of the inspiration on the boards!!

Another fun thread we have on the board is Scrap your Stash. As scrapbookers, we all have a stash of paper that we need to work through. This challenge is to motivate you to do just that! Simply pick a paper line that you want to slash and share your pages as you work through it. You can combine this with any other challenges posted on the boards. It has really proved to be motivational to me. My first collection I chose to slash was Echo Park's "For the Record Documented" line. I ended up completing 4 layouts with the supplies I still had. Here are a couple of them...

Want to play along with us? Visit the message board here to see all of the stashes that have been slashed and add your own!! Since I slashed this line, I don't have it to offer as our giveaway but I am staying with the manufacturer. Leave a comment on this post by the end of the day May 5th, for your chance to win the papers from EP's So Happy Together collection!

Enjoy your day!!

Come Spring into Summer with us!

Are you looking for some fun scrappy inspiration this weekend?  Well, this is the place!  My Scraps is having a Spring into Summer Crop this weekend, and there are a TON of challenges up for you on our message boards!  All of them are Spring and Summer related, but your pages do not have to be about that...they can be about anything!  You really should come over and play with us!

Don't forget about the Hop still going on, too!  You  have until midnight April 28th to complete the Hop!  Go HERE to get started!

Missy here, and I'm sharing the two pages I created for my two challenges.  This first one is for a {Photo Inspired}Challenge.  Go HERE to see the photo :)  I traced some circles and then painted them with some watered down paints.  I added lots of random stamping and lots of fun washi tapes.  I only used one piece of patterned paper behind my photos.  Using paints, stamps & tape is a great way to make a layout when you don't want to use up a lot of paper, or you just want to create something kind of random.

This is the page for my second challenge...it's all about Summer traveling.  I used the new Trendsetter line from Fancy Pants...I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  I've never been a huge red or navy fan, but this line has changed my mind!  I love all the elements that come in this collection...the die cuts, the stickers, the tags, the flair! Go HERE to grab it from the My Scraps store.

I hope you'll come visit us on the boards...there are so many fun challenges over there, and a GREAT prize awaits one lucky winner!  And don't forget about the games, too :)

Have a GREAT weekend!

Missy :)

Minty Fresh!

One of my favorite colors right now is MINT!  As  a matter of fact, we our painting a hallway in our home that color! I used some Webster's Pages files, Crate Paper frames and papers, and a few American Crafts products as well.

The mint goes so nicely with pink!  (But if you wanted a more masculine page, pair it with Navy!)

The dark butterfly picks up the darker colors in my photo.

Lots of layers, of course, for some interest!

Doiles and flowers for a feminine touch!

You can see the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes line HERE in the store

And the Webster's Composition & Color collection HERE!

Want some other "Minty" products?

How about Mint Julep from Basic Grey?

Or Jillibean Soup Chilled Cucumber Soup?

It's a perfect color for spring!

Cuties

Oh my, Oh my!!!  Have you ever saw a line and just couldn't wait to get it in your hands.  Well that is how I felt about Simple Stories 24/7.  I knew I would like it when I saw the previews of it but didn't realize how easy of a line it would be to work with.  The papers work so well with a variety of photos and the embellishments are generic enough to go with any photo as well.  Simple Stories truly knocked it out of the park with this line.

I took one of the journaling cards and cut the phrases up into strips.

Now don't forget our Spring into Summer Crop starts tomorrow morning and you still have plenty of time to participate in the blog hop.

Down By The Shore

Hello and happy Wednesday!
Lisa here today to share a layout I made using the Fancy Pants Down By The Shore Collection.
This line is perfect for boy or girl pages and can be used for more than just beach pages.
I used this line for a spring break layout with photos of my husband and son at Sea Life in the Mall of America:

Love the tags, colors and tin flair in this collection!

You Melt My {heart}

Hello and good morning.

One of the lines that I drooled over ever since CHA releases was the Fancy Pants Park Bench collection. I  was instantly drawn to everything about it. Most of the time I love BOLD patterns and colors, but every now and again and softer collection calls to me.

I created this page of me holding my lil one, who was in the ER at the time, and had finally fallen asleep. I asked my husband to take a couple photos so I could remember how precious time is, and little ones are.

I used several of the border sticker strips on this page, some of them I cut and formed arrows, and one of them I just used as is
I'm also a huge sucker for the doilies in this collection and fussy cut out several of them from the Pond paper.

Make sure to check out the collection in the My Scraps & More store HERE.

Have a wonderful day

Laid Back with Simple Stories

Hey there, scrappy friends!  Missy here with you today to share a page I created using the new Vintage Bliss line from Simple Stories.  Have you ever opened up a new collection of papers and just sat and stared at it?  Were you so overwhelmed with how pretty it was that you didn't know where to start?  You probably didn't want to actually cut the papers just yet because they're all just so beautiful :)  That was me with this collection!  I had to stalk it for a while...look at it and admire it...and then decide which papers to use where.  I finally dug in, and I'm so glad I did!

Here's my page.  I used a circle mask and some modeling paste to created some texture on the wood grain paper, and then I just moved the same mask and used some mist to add some color.  I layered up several patterned papers and added a yellow flower from my stash.  One thing I love about SS lines is how so many things are so easy to just cut and use, like that big journaling banner.

I used my Cameo to cut this piece and the pink matting behind my photo.  I love those arrows!

I hate throwing anything away, so I used the arrows that were cut out on my page, too.

This really is a fun line to play with...and there are more lines from Simple Stories available in the store HERE if this one is too girly for you.  I don't have any boys, so it's all girly stuff for me :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Don't forget to stop in on Monday for our Spring into Summer Blog Hop, and then next Friday begins a super fun Crop!

Echo Park- All About a Boy (and a girl)

I was sooo inspired by the sketch on the sketch blog today!  I love different sketches that guide you to create something different, and that' is exactly what this sketch did!  You will have to see it HERE to see what I mean!  :)

Here is my take on the sketch.  I used Echo Park "All About a Boy" collection.  I love the aquas, blues, and oranges in this line! I also added in a few embellies from my stash.

I started with the strips of diagonal papers and then stitched over them with my machine.  I added a row of stamped arrows, too.

For some dimension, I added some wood veneer stars, some old Jillibean fabric stars, and some flair!

I tucked my journaling on a tag behind the photos.

I'd love to see how you take on this sketch this week!

Fast and Furious

I don't know about you but there are only so many titles I can come up with on my own.  I'm glad there are movie and song writers out there who can be creative for me and I can just borrow their ideas.  I created this Fast and Furious page using the new Fancy Pants Swagger line.

There has been a lot of flash back to older items lately and in scrapbooking it is the use of what looks like polaroid photos.  I created my own polaroid photo look by trimming down my 4x6 photos and using a lined pp as the background.

Happy Wednesday!

4th Grade

Hello and good morning.

Today I sharing with you a page that I used with the Simple Stories 24/7 Collection. Something about the bold patterns and colors just scream my name.

So many times, I forget to scrap the kid's school photos. I mean to, but I always save them for the perfect line to use them with. Do you ever do that???

Here is a page of my daughter from this years school picture. I went with an open space concept and splattered some mists on the page for a "messy" look.

I love theSnapshots paper from this line, and used a couple of the "polariods" in it to layer with the photo, since I just used a small wallet size picture. I didn't want the space to feel "too" open.

I also used several of the sticker elements on the page and pop dots to raise them up.

Make sure to grab some in the My Scraps & More store HERE, you will not be disappointed.

Have a wonderful day

She's Full of Sass

Hello there, friends!  Missy here with you today to share a page using an older Echo Park collection...For The Record: Tailored.  It's still one of my favorites, and although I've made a few pages with it, I've been hoarding it!  I just love the citrus colors!  And this collection is still available in the My Scraps Store!  Go HERE if you'd like to get it!

I printed my photos in black & white so they'd pop against the colorful patterned papers.  I layered several strips of various widths and added in a little bit of washi tape.  The bottom cluster is there to cover up a mistake I made...I was going to paint down there, and when I got some orange streaks down there, I realized that the oranges just didn't match.  So to fix it, I just ripped that painted part off and added some orange paper behind it and added all the other tidbits around it.  You would never know that I totally botched it!

Thanks for stopping by today...I hope you are able to get lots of scrapping time in :)  Have a GREAT weekend!

Missy ;)

Crate Paper and Scrappy Friends!

It's probably no secret that my favorite manufacturer is Crate Paper!  I love the diversity of patterns and prints within a single collection, yet somehow they all seem to go together!

Here is a page of some scrappy friends and I who met for a weekend crop!

I did a lot of layering with chipboard, die cuts, and paper....

Some machine stitching behind the photo cluster..

And of course a lot of fussy cutting of doilies, bows, and more!

Although this collection is almost sold out, check out all the other wonderful Crate Paper lines!

Have a great scrappy weekend!
