The last sketch is up!

Today is the final sketch in the Sketch-a-thonMissy here to show you the page I made for today's sketch.  You can see the sketch HERE.

I also wanted to use up some of my paper stash.  Remember this line from American Crafts?  I thought it would go perfectly with the bright colors in my photo.  I have been wanting to use this black & white chevron paper for a while now.  It's a very busy pattern, so I smudged black paint all around my paper layers to add some separation.  I like the way it turned out!

I added various washi tapes, buttons & twine and I also mixed up the alphas in my title.  I just love bright colors, and this one used pretty much all of them :)

I hope you've been inspired by our sketches this month...and if you haven't seen any of them, definitely go check them out.  You still have time to join in!

Have a wonderful weekend, and a lovely Easter if you celebrate it!

Ready for Summer!

We just got back from a trip to Florida where we spent some time at the beach!  I have been really itching to start scrapping warmer weather photos, and these Fancy Pants "Down by the Shore" papers were just perfect for my photos!

My layout today is based on yesterday's sketch for the Sketch-a-Thon!  You can see it HERE.

I really layered on the banner pieces, and turned them sideways.  I thought they looked like flags this way.  Each little piece was distressed a bit to add some more texture.

On the background, I wanted to give an feeling of water being splashed, so I used some white modeling paste and some glitter paint with a stencil. Then I splattered with navy and aqua mists.

Only 2 more days for the Sketch-A-Thon!

Hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

I'm in Love

That would be with the new Simple Stories 24/7 line.  The colors are fabulous, the journaling cards are fabulous, and all the different sayings work with so many different things.  Here is a page I created using this line and Sketch #28 from the sketch-a-thon.  Still plenty of time to play.  I have gotten so much done with all these sketches to work with.

Oh My...

Hello and good morning...

Today I'm sharing a layout with you using American Craft's Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection. Most of the time I just use cardstock as my base background for my layout, but the Bright Bauble paper was perfect!! I LOVE the ombre effect.

This collection is full of fun chevrons, grids, arrows, horses and cool trendy prints....
I cut out pennants and added some stitching to create a focal point on the top of the page. I also used some of the MME enamel dots.
Make sure to check out the Lucky Charm collection in the store HERE... there is sooo much to it, and both sides of the paper are simply delicious!!!!!

Have a wonderful day....

Giveaway Monday 3/25/13

During our sketch-a-thon, one of the design team members hosted a fun kit swap! Everyone who signed up was sent an address to send a kit to; items just put together from your stash. You were to send at least three pieces of patterned papers and 4 or 5 embellishments. I missed out on this last time.  All of the members seemed to love it so I was sure not to miss the opportunity this time!! I anxiously awaited for my "surprise" kit to arrive and was happy to see that the lovely Jennifer had gotten my name. Here is what she sent to me...

At first I was stumped but after playing around, this is what I came up with...

I wish that I would have taken a picture of the back side of the papers because that is what I ended up using mostly. I cut the word "me" out of the remember title and misted the brown felt ribbon black to match my page. This was so much fun!! For our giveaway this week, I am going to make a surprise kit for the winner!! For your chance to be the lucky recipient,  leave me a comment on this post letting me know if you have ever participated in a kit swap before. We are thinking of having them on the message board every other month or so! Would you play along?? I will draw for a winner next week!
Last week's winner is...

AngelaMarch 18, 2013 at 8:27 AMI also love me some EP! Surprisingly I do not have this collection, but would love it! I used the "little boy" line up and all that is left is scraps! :)

Congratulations!! Please email me your shipping address and I will get your prize out to you!!

Enjoy your week and thanks for stopping by My Scraps!!!

Ridin' High with Echo Park

Happy Weekend, scrappy friends!  Missy here to share a page I created based on one of my very own sketches!  I created the sketch for our Sketch-a-thon that is in its third week and still going strong.  If you haven't visited our boards and joined in the fun, you don't know what you're missing!

I used the new Echo Park All About a Boy collection...rainbow colors grab me everytime!  And even though I don't have a son, these colors are perfect for my girls :)  My oldest loves piggy back rides with her Daddy, so I couldn't wait to scrap them with these gorgeous papers & embellishments.  This collection is available in the store HERE.

Here's my sketch...a good one for multiple photos! If you're like me, you take tons of pictures of just one event, so you probably have tons to choose from.  I hope you like it and are able to use it for inspiration!

There is still plenty of time to join in on the Sketch-a-thon...a brand new sketch every day!  And there are fun prizes to be won, of course!

Have a wonderful day, friends!

Sketches for today and Crate Paper

I am always a big fan of Crate Paper, and the most recent lines have been my go to papers for my pages lately!

This page is based off of the sketch I made today for the sketch-a-thon!  I used the Crate Paper "Party Day" collection, which is diverse enough to use for all kinds of pages.

And if you are in the mood for another sketch, don't forget that every Friday the sketch blog also has  sketches available!  Here is the page I made for today's sketch, also using Crate Paper, the DIY collection.

Check out the store for the new collections and the message board for today's sketch!

Sweet Girl

I just love Winter CHA.  The colors that come out in the lines are so happy.  And what could be happier than a clown, especially if it's a clown dog.

Now you ask why is she posting a picture of a clown dog, well you will have to pop over to the forum and check out the sketch-a-thon to find out that answer.  I created today's sketch for you and this is the LO that goes along with it.  I created this page using Echo Parks Sweet Girl collection.

Spring Break!

It's not quite spring break here yet, but will be in a few weeks! I am getting excited for the kids to be off of school and no schedule to follow! We usually head to a waterpark or do something fun for a few days, this year we have my nieces wedding out of town, so I am looking forward to that. Do you have any spring break plans?

I used a photo from last years spring break trip to the Mall of Ameria for my layout titled "Spring Break". I used the Echo park Scoot collection. I <3 the colors in this collection! I added some banners, stitching and paint spatters to my page:

Hope you have a great rest of the week!

It's Party Time

Hello and good morning..

One thing I always love is a great party... whether it's a birthday party and there's some cake, it's celebrating something exciting, or just a fun get together with friends. Today I am sharing two pages using the Crate Paper Party Day collection, and how versatile it can be for both girl and boy pages.

One thing I try to look for in a collection is if it can be used for both a boy and a girl. Since I have both and scrap both boy and girl pages, I love to make my paper go the extra mile for either photos.

First up is a girlie page using the Party  Day line:
The cupcake paper is perfect to fussy cut the cupcake images and use them as embellishments to any project:

Next up, a boy birthday page from my son's birthday:
I fell in LOVE with the washi paper from this line and cut alot of it up and used it on both pages, esp as arrow accent:

Don't you just love how this collection can go both ways??? Check it out in the store HERE. It also works great for birthday cards too!!!

Have a wonderful day

Love This Little Chunk :)

Hey there, My Scraps fans!  Missy here to share a page featuring the new Color Me Happy line from Glitz...and let me tell you, it does just what it says!  These gorgeous rainbow colors make me very happy just looking at them :)  You can purchase them in the store HERE.

I created this page based on a brand new sketch that I designed for the March Sketch-a-thon going on right now on our boards.  This picture of Paige is one of my favorites, and I really wish I could show you the unedited version...her little chunky hiney is just soooo cute!  But in this day and age, you have to be careful abut what you post online, especially when your kids are involved.  So I censored her tushy :)  But you still get the idea.

I used some gesso to white-out the background to give my paper layers some separation from the busy stripes.  I wanted it subtle and soft around the edges.  I had so much fun playing around with all of these colors.  I added the yellow, blue, orange and red solids, but the rest is Glitz.  I cut the "love" arrow & the word "chunk" with my Cameo.

Don't you just love these awesome rhinestones!  They are so cool...I had to restrain myself from using them all on this one page!  I decided to save some for my next page :)

I didn't know what color to cut my "love" arrows in, so I finally decided to cut it white.  Then, I watered down some rainbow colored paints and just washed it over the cut, making it a rainbow by itself.  I am really happy with how it turned out.

Here's the sketch I created.  What do you think of it?  I've only recently started creating them, and I'd love your feedback.

You still have plenty of time to join us on the boards if you're looking for some fun sketch inspiration!  A new one goes up every day, and we are having a blast!

Have a GREAT weekend!

New Fancy Pants collections!

The new Fancy Pants collections are in and I scooped some up right away!  I really like what they did with their lines and their new embellishments this release!  Here I used the "Trendsetter" collection which has the very popular Navy, Aqua, and Pink combo!

I cut apart all the tags from one of the patterned papers and layered them to create a mat for my photo.  On a few of them I added some Navy twine. Directly behind my photo, I used some light blue vellum.

On my background, I heat embossed some doily stamps in white and splattered some navy and pink ink.
Another little cluster of some tags, a badge, chipboard, and a button near my title area.

There is so much new goodness in the store!  What new things collections have you gotten lately??

Have a great weekend!

It's all Good!

How creative are you when you scrap?  Do you stick with your paper and embellishments the way they come or do you look at things in a unique way?  If you just use the basics as is, try to venture out and look at the big picture.  Take a look at the packaging that the embellishments come in.  Some of them have awesome designs on the backing or the label can be used on a page.  Also, don't forget the the strips of paper that you cut off of the the bottom of the paper.  Some of them have a thin strip of the pattern in a smaller print and of course they also always have the name of the line on them.  They can be very creative with those names.  Here is a page I created using Glitz Color Me Happy.

Here you can see where I cut the name off the bottom of one of the paper strips and used it as a subtitle.  It looks like it was made to be an embellishment.

Remember How Lovely You Are

Hello and good morning...

If there is one of the new releases that I am just smitten by, in every sense of the word, it's by the Crate Maggie Holmes collection.. The style, the feel, the colors, and the images are perfect for almost any occasion and just have an easy breezy feel to it all. I LOVE that!!!

I created this page using the line of my daughter as she got all dressed up for her first daddy daughter dance held by the school.
I fussy cut out the doily from the Moments paper and added some misting to it:
I usually always add at least the person, date, and place of the photo to my page to know what's going on. Sure, I remember know, but in years to come, I know my memory may not be so kind to me... lol..
I also love how companys are decorating the bottom strip of the patterned papers, it makes the perfect accent for projects.
I've become a huge fan of the MME enamels in the My Scraps store. They seem to be the perfect accent to any project.
So how will you use this line?? Does it speak to you?? Make sure to pick it up in the My Scraps & More store HERE, before it's all gone.

And in case you're playing along with the My Scraps & More sketch-a-thon, this page goes along with sketch #9 and the added twist of using at least 2 mists/inks/ and paints. I used 2 different color mists. What would you choose???

Have a wonderful day....

Here She Comes - AC Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm

Hey there, My Scraps fans!  Hope you're having a great weekend so far.  Missy here to share a page I created using the new American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection.  It's a HUGE collection, and there are SO many papers & patterns!  I love the navy blues thrown in with the reds, pinks, yellows, greens & beiges...a very big range.  And the chipboard stickers are so versatile and fun!

These photos are from Dec. 2010, and Paige had just started walking unassisted.  I kept trying to snap as many pictures of her coming toward me as I could!  These papers matched the pinks in her Dora jammies just perfectly.  I started with some pink paint, which I smudged around with an old credit card.  Then I just started choosing the papers I wanted & layered them.  The neat thing that I love about AC papers is the strips at the bottom of each page...you can use them for fun accents!  The beige heart strip was from the bottom of a page.

You can purchase this line HERE in the store, along with many other brand new collections!

And don't forget about our month-long Sketch-a-thon over on our boards...a brand new sketch goes up every day!  Here's a sample of one of the sketches I created last week.

And here is the page I created, using the new Echo Park All About a Boy line, available in the store HERE.

Be sure to check out the boards to see how everyone is interpreting the sketches!  A nice prize awaits a lucky winner :)

Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great weekend!

Missy ;)
