Happy Accidents

I just love "happy accidents"!  You know, when you sit down and scrap and the process just takes you someplace you never would have thought of?  I had a layout in mind when I cut up all of these little bits of paper but when I put it together it just wasn't working for me....so instead, I ended up with this, my "happy accident" of a layout.  I like this version so much better than what I had in mind when I started!

Share with us some of your "happy accidents"!  Link up you layouts to this post and I will draw someone to receive a little scrappy goodness.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Christmas in June!

It is hot here on the Gulf Coast! Everyone together now - "How hot is it?"
106 Degrees!
Not safe to do many activities outside so the girls and I have hunkered down with party prep (Priscilla is thirteen today!) and craft projects.
To really cool off I have put myself in a Christmas frame of mind and been scrapping last year's Christmas photos.
A Perfect Gift

From the My Scraps and More Store I used -
Crate Paper Apple Pie
Crate Paper Cross Stitch
Crate Paper Accent Cuts
October Afternoon Mini Market Stickers

To create the spool of twine I cut the spool from the Crate Paper Accent Cuts. I secured the end of the twine to the back of the spool with tape and wrapped it around the spool - intentionally leaving it a bit messy. I left some trailing off - curving and looping it - secured with good old tacky glue. I secured the spool of thread to my page with foam dots.
I used this sketch by Diana Fisher.

Thank you for stopping by and have a blessed day!

6x6

I've found a new love, 6x6 paper pads.  In the past I always thought these just wouldn't be enough and I wouldn't be able to work with them because I love using long strips on a lot of my pages.  Well I bought my first one, Echo Parks So Happy Together.  I really liked the colors of the line but I wasn't sure the patterns were my style.  So I bought some embellies and the 6x6 paper pad and I have had so much fun with it.  Here is just one of my creations.

I also found out that I could have bought the 12x12 sheets because I absolutely love the patterns of this line now that I have them in my hand :)

Happy Wednesday and a Secret to Share!

Good morning! Hope your week is going good so far!
Lisa here with you this morning to share a little secret. you know those strips at the bottom of patterned paper that you usually cut off, well, I found a use for them and it saves me from cutting into a new sheet of paper!
Here's the paper:

I cut out the part that shows what is on the backside of the patterned paper and used it for a border on this layout:

Here is a close- up:
I used the All Star Collection Kit from Echo Park for this basketball page.

Hope this tip helps the next time you need a small border for your card or layout!

So Fresh!

I am loving the subtly of this new Authentique line "Fresh"! I love the clean look and the soft colors! When I saw this company's first few lines - I was not overly impressed, but they are quickly becoming a favorite. I love that they have a full sheet of element stickers and the sheets of individual words and tiny alphas! I am also getting very addicted to the 6x6 pads now - it makes the paper go so far and if you can split it with a friend then it becomes a really great deal! Here is the first LO I have done with this line -

And here is one I found in the galley by Tabitha - what a great action shot!

Have a great week!

First day of summer!!!

Good morning and welcome to the first full day of summer.  Of course I'm in Texas so it has felt like summer for quite awhile.  We have always considered summer as starting the day after school lets out.  Here is a page I created of my son with his teacher on the last day, and not only his last day of the year but his last day of elementary as he will be headed off to middle school next year.

I took my inspiration from my sons yearbook.  I copied the signatures onto my page for the background and used papers and embellishments from Authentique's Genuine line.

Some Indie Chic

Lisa here this morning to share one of my favorite My Minds Eye lines, Indie Chic. This is such a fun line for boys and girls and I adore the garlands and colors in this line!

I have been playing with paint and getting messy lately :) I found that along with stitching, it gives me the right touch to all my layouts. :)

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your day with us!

Our giveaway for today features these as well! For your chance to win the "Hello Summer" 6x6 paper pad, leave me a comment here by midnight June 24th and let me know if this idea is something you would like to do too! One more for Summer Soul

Good Morning!  Wendy again...with just one more page for the Summer Soul reveal.

My first few pages focused on "beachy" pages or "summery" pictures.

I really loved the added browns in these papers, so I decided to try a different approach.  Okay, so they are still "summer" pictures, but there is no pool or sand!

A little bit of fussy cutting and a fun flower punch added dimension to these papers.

It's amazing how versatile this whole collection is.  Stop by the gallery and see what everyone is creating!

And don't forget to join us for the "Got Talent II" contest!

So Revealing

Have you enjoyed seeing the amazing creations from everyone this week?  I know I have!!  This DT has rocked the Fancy right out of the Pants with their creations this month (tee-he).  Much like you have heard from everyone else this week, I loved these papers!  They are so beyond perfect for all of those vacation and beach pictures.  I really had a hard time using them for anything else!  I did manage to do one non-beach/vacation themed layout this month....but the rest... beach and vacation!  Really, how could I not??

This first one I created literally the day after we took that picture.  We had headed down to the shore to spend the day roaming the boardwalk for Mother's Day.  It was too cold to really hit the beach, but a perfect day for some pixs!

See...I did manage one here that wasn't with the theme of the papers...but she is wearing sunglasses so close enough right?  LOL.

With the last here, I cut each and every one of these flowers out of another sheet from this line and added them to the 'B' side of another page.  My favorite part though was my rediscovery of vellum.  I cut out some butterflies as well as the title on my Cameo using vellum -- I just love the subtleness of the butterflies on this!

I have yet to complete a single challenge yet for the My Scraps and More Got Talent II contest....now that baseball season is over, I can get some creating done!!!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

Kristin's Design Team Reveal

This month the design team was sent Fancy Pants Summer Soul collection. I had alot fun creating with this line. It is not just for beach and pool pictures, I was able to create quite a few Easter pages too!
Something is unusual in these first two layouts, do you see it? I do - I am IN the pictures!

I used: Mirage paper, Ocean Waves paper, Summer Soul Strips paper, Summer Soul alphas, October Afternoon Mini Market Stickers

For this next layout I used a few things in the line but cut them apart and used them in a different way.
I used the small surfboards from the Summer Soul Strips paper as banner flags under my photo. A fun technique that gives the surfboards a new purpose!
I used the "At The Beach" card on the Summer Soul Cards differently too by cutting it apart. I punched "at" and "the" out with my starburst punch and placed in my title along with the rest of the card.
Don't forget to make a collection yours - make it work for you!

The next layout celebrates the sweet love of my husband for his girls. Amory and Priscilla are both Daddy's girls - they certainly have him wrapped around their fingers!
Father's Day is this weekend - June 17th - have you made a page celebrating the love of a father and his children lately?

I used: Ocean Waves paper, Beach Towel paper, Sandcastle paper, Scuba paper, Summer Soul Strips

And with the scraps - a card to say thank you for stopping by!

Have a blessed day,
Kristin

Tracy's Reveal

Good Morning!  I hope you have been enjoying seeing all the reveals this week.  There are so many different ways to go with these papers.  I also got to work with the Fancy Pants Wave Searcher collection.  For me the minute I saw these papers I thought of my lake photos.  So many of the summer lines are such bright colors that they don't quite fit all the lake photos I have.  These papers with their muted tones were absolutely perfect.

Now this LO isn't really for my reveal as it is not new but I still wanted to share it with you to show you how adding a little pop of blue can turn these papers from the muted look they have to working so well with bold colors as well.

Thanks for stopping by

Wendy's June DT Reveal - Fancy Pants

Good Morning!  I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer so far!  Make sure you always take a camera with you and capture those fabulous, fun photos!  Fancy Pants has a few great collections that are a must have for all those Summer photos!

Here is what I created using Fancy Pants Summer Soul.  These bright colors and patterns were just begging to be used!

I love using my flower punches and made a bunch.    I also used a circle punch to make my own little rings to spread out all over the page.  You think there enough circles on here?  lol

I used a different flower punch for this page....but I always seem to find buttons for the centers. :)
These chipboard stickers are so cool!

Speaking of stickers, this collection also comes with some banner stickers.  I put some pop dots on mine and added a little bit of jute.

And my favorite pastime while I'm watching dumb reality tv shows is fussy cutting.  I used my micro top scissors to cut along the lines on the waves.  At the top of the waves, I placed some pop dots to pop them off the page.  At the top is a cluster of some fun chipboard stickers and regular stickers.

You have to stop by the My Scraps and More store to see the rest of the collection!  It's so cool and will make you want to get out and some fun in the sun!!

Have a great Summer Sunday!!

Wendy***
